THE ROLE

The main responsibility of this role is the negotiation and follow up of contracts with ports and terminals in their area of responsibility and all relevant subject matters (pilotage, mooring, towage, port authorities etc). This also includes following up negotiations and looking at special issues with individual ports.

YOUR IMPACT

As a Port Operations Area Manager you will:

Prepare business analysis on port costs, liaise with Liner department to analyse potential lines changes.

Estimate costs and provide port / operational and financial analysis.

Prepare data and documents for the contract negotiations.

Main point of contact with the Regional Operations Manager of their area to ensure that the operations run smoothly, stay informed of any developments and quick problem solving.

Follow-up of the providers’ performance as per contracts/TSA/SLA : You will prepare analysis and operational reports, transhipment reports and port productivity reports.

Act as the main point of contact between terminals/ports and other departments. All departments should report to you regarding any potential issues that may concern port operations.

Deal with the high-level issues regarding port operations and communicate with the management of the terminals.

Monitor the terminal capacity and productivity in order to ensure the optimal operations, to minimize costs, port stay, and increase efficiency. Intervene with any day-to-day operative issues that may affect costs.

TSA Terminal Service Agreements: you will review contracts, represent the interface with terminals.

Main point of contact with terminal management in case of non-compliance.

YOUR BACKGROUND

Extensive experience in the shipping industry.

Ability to work under pressure.

Able to establish priorities and take decisions in a timely manner.

Strong communication, negotiation and organizational skills.

Problem solving.

Responsible and well organized.

Attend Management meetings upon request.

Willingness to travel at times.

Ability to build a relationship with the key individuals in ports to be able to influence particular decisions with regards to contracts negotiation & costs.

Quick resolution of issues with terminal Management.

Be proactive in preventing extra costs to the line and any operational hiccups.

Based in Geneva.

Full Time.

EU citizenship or valid Swiss work permit is required.
