Job description
Ready to create trust and drive progress on a global scale? At Kiwa, we are the trusted partner ensuring quality, safety and sustainability across industries worldwide. Our comprehensive Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) services empower businesses to achieve compliance, enhance performance, and build trust.
Your Role: Owning the Numbers Behind Kiwa's ESG Story
As ESG Data & Reporting Specialist , you are accountable for Kiwa's ESG reporting end to end, from what the countries submit through to group reporting and the reporting to SHV, our shareholder. That is more than consolidating what arrives. You judge whether the figures are logical and reliable, you find what does not add up, you translate the numbers into what they mean for the targets ahead, and you answer the questions that follow: are the numbers right, why do we see this, what does it mean, and what actions are needed.
The corporate ESG team is built around three complementary areas: global ESG leadership and stakeholder engagement, the broader corporate ESG Strategy, Governance and approach including regulatory compliance, and ESG reporting, data and performance management. The third is yours, and you report to the Global Head of ESG. You work side by side with the Corporate ESG Manager, who reports to the same Global Head: you own the data and the production of the reporting, and you work together with the Manager on the interpretation and the communication.
You work together with the country level ESG coordinators and other colleagues from all (35+) Kiwa countries to further drive ESG data improvements and next steps, and with corporate functions such as Finance and IT for alignment on shared topics. With CSRD being rolled out, legislation still evolving and Kiwa growing through acquisition as a decentralized company, not every process, definition or dataset is standardized yet. For this role, that is part of the appeal: the reporting process is yours to improve.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- End-to-End Reporting Ownership : Own the quarterly ESG and GHG reporting cycle from country level to management level, and translate the outcome into forecasts and recommended actions.
- Data Collection, Review & Assessment : Collect, review and assess whether the data countries submit are accurate, complete and reliable, analyze deviations and inconsistencies, and get anything unclear explained or corrected at source.
- Stakeholder Management: Work directly with country teams, Finance and other stakeholders, support them in meeting the reporting requirements, and share knowledge so they get better at it on the job.
- Quality & Assurance Readiness : Improve the quality of ESG reporting structurally, and keep documentation and audit trail in order with limited assurance in mind.
- Reference Data & Perimeter : Maintain reference data such as locations, reporting entities and acquisitions, to keep the reporting perimeter up to date, and to enable baseline recalculations and the connection to the applied data models.
- Management Information: Connect GHG, financial and business data, including the CapEx and OpEx investments required for the ESG transition, into meaningful management information and concrete decision information, in numbers as well as in words.
- Business Insight: You do not stop once the numbers are reported. You challenge performance, identify trends and root causes, and help stakeholders understand what drives the results and what actions may be needed.
- Technology & Automation : Help make reporting smarter and more efficient, through better system connections, dashboarding and the use of AI.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Stay up to date with evolving ESG and CSRD requirements, GHG accounting standards and best practices, advise on process improvements and implement updates as needed.
Your Profile
- Education : Bachelor or Master degree in a relevant area, for example Business Economics, Finance, Risk Management, Data Analytics, Environmental Science or Sustainability.
- Experience : About 3 to 6 years of experience in data analysis, reporting or control, built on a strong financial and analytical base. Experience with ESG, CSRD or GHG reporting is an advantage; if you do not have it yet, the appetite to develop it quickly is what counts.
- Analytical curiosity: You are curious to independently explore the story behind a number, you enjoy the moment when something does not add up, and you are capable of explaining the data in words and actionable insights for a variety of stakeholders.
- Initiative, hands-on mentality and ownership : Comfortable without a finished map, you proactively take ownership, you are eager to find answers and get things done, you work things out where they are not fully crystallized yet, and you come back with a proposal.
- Project Management : You keep several deliverables running at once, set your own priorities, deliver what was agreed on time, and gain energy from a pace and a subject that keeps moving.
- Communication : You are proactive and open in your communication and find it natural to pick up the phone to a colleague in another country, because five minutes of conversation usually beats five emails.
- Eye for detail without getting lost : Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy, with the pragmatism to know when more detail no longer changes the answer.
- Technology : Tech-savvy, with strong Excel skills and experience with Power BI or comparable dashboarding tools, and an interest in automation and AI.
- Languages : Fluent in English, both speaking and writing. Dutch is a strong advantage, as part of the explanation and coaching internally takes place in Dutch.
- Location : You are based in the Netherlands and are entitled to work here.
What We Offer
- End-to-end ownership of Kiwa's ESG reporting, with a direct view of how those numbers are used at group level and by SHV, our shareholder.
- A process you shape rather than inherit, with room to make it smarter through better system connections and AI.
- Room to grow with a subject that keeps growing, within Kiwa and the wider SHV family of companies.
- A gross monthly salary between €4,400 and €6,500 for a full-time appointment, plus 8% holiday allowance. Where you land within this range depends on your knowledge and experience.
- Hybrid working (approximately 60% on-site at the Rijswijk office and 40% remote), 33 paid vacation days and a strong pension scheme.
- The opportunity to work for a purpose-driven company contributing to a safer, more sustainable world.
