Job description

Canadian International School Abu Dhabi (CIS) serves a diverse international community and provides students with a high-quality Canadian education based on the Alberta Education curriculum .

Our approach emphasizes inquiry-based, student-centered learning, encouraging students to think critically, make meaningful connections and apply their knowledge and skills to real-world contexts.

CIS is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic High School Science Teacher to join our team for an immediate September 2026 start .

The successful candidate will deliver engaging and challenging High School Science courses aligned with the Alberta Program of Studies , with a particular focus on General Science .

The teacher will create an inclusive, academically rigorous learning environment that develops students’ scientific knowledge, inquiry skills, problem-solving abilities and critical thinking.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality High School Science lessons aligned with Alberta curriculum outcomes.
  • Teach High School Science courses as required.
  • Design engaging inquiry-based lessons, practical investigations and laboratory activities.
  • Use formative and summative assessment to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet a range of student needs and abilities.
  • Integrate technology, scientific inquiry and real-world applications into teaching and learning.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive and well-managed classroom and laboratory environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning, assessment and wider school initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with students and families regarding progress and achievement.
  • Maintain professional practice in accordance with the Alberta Teaching Quality Standard (TQS) , ADEK requirements and CIS policies.
  • Contribute positively to the wider life of the school and ongoing professional learning.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Education degree with a Major in Science.
  • Recognized teaching qualification/certification.
  • Alberta teaching certification is strongly preferred. Candidates who are not currently Alberta certified must be eligible and willing to obtain Alberta teacher certification as a requirement of employment.
  • Relevant experience teaching Science at High School/Secondary level.
  • Strong subject knowledge in with the ability to teach General/Environmental Science and/or other High School Science courses.
  • Excellent proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Strong classroom management, communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to meet ADEK teacher eligibility and PASS approval requirements .
  • Experience with the Alberta, Canadian or another recognized international curriculum is an advantage.
  • Commitment to inclusive, student-centered education, safeguarding and continuous professional development.

Must be available to start in September 2026.
