Drilling Superintendent

Libera Consultants is supporting a leading drilling contractor in Saudi Arabia in the search for an experienced Rig Superintendent to support its land drilling operations .

This is a senior site-based leadership role with overall accountability for the safe, efficient and compliant execution of onshore drilling operations. You will provide day-to-day operational leadership on a land rig, guiding multiple disciplines to ensure performance, safety and operational integrity are consistently delivered.

Key Responsibilities:

• Take full operational responsibility for day-to-day rig performance, ensuring drilling activities are executed safely, efficiently and in line with programmed objectives.
• Drive operational discipline across drilling, maintenance and support teams to maximize rig uptime and performance.
• Act as the primary site leader, ensuring clear alignment between rig operations and onshore management teams.
• Coordinate the delivery of materials, services and specialist support to maintain uninterrupted drilling operations.
• Ensure drilling fluid systems, well control practices and pressure control procedures are correctly applied and continuously monitored.
• Maintain oversight of critical well control equipment, including testing regimes, readiness status and compliance requirements.
• Lead and manage rig move execution on land locations, ensuring planning is translated into safe and efficient field operations.
• Champion proactive maintenance practices, ensuring equipment reliability, readiness and proper inventory control of critical spares and consumables.
• Provide leadership during non-routine operations and emergency situations, ensuring structured and controlled response actions.
• Conduct regular operational audits and site inspections, ensuring risks are identified early and corrective actions are closed out effectively.
• Develop, mentor and support rig crews, reinforcing strong safety behaviors and continuous performance improvement.
• Maintain accurate operational reporting and ensure clear communication with all internal and external stakeholders.

Candidate Profile

We're looking for an experienced drilling professional with:

• 10–15 years' operational experience in onshore (land) drilling operations , including at least 2–3 years' experience as a Rig Superintendent.
• Strong knowledge of drilling operations, well construction and the wider oil and gas industry.
• Experience working with top drive systems and mechanical and/or AC/DC drilling rigs.
• High school diploma, technical qualification or bachelor's degree (or equivalent).
• Good written and spoken English.
• Competent user of Microsoft Office and standard operational reporting systems.

Essential Certification

• Valid IWCF Well Control Certificate – Supervisor Level.
