Head of Airline Operations / Accountable Manager

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced aviation operations leader to oversee all airline operational functions and ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the airline. The role will be accountable for operational performance, regulatory compliance, safety oversight, operational resilience, and strategic growth initiatives while leading a large multicultural workforce.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all airline operational functions, including:
• Flight Operations
• Ground Operations
• Operations Control Center (OCC)
• Technical Services
• Aviation Security
• Safety & Compliance
• Crew Recruitment and Training
• Serve as the primary liaison with aviation regulatory authorities, ensuring full compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.
• Drive operational excellence, performance improvement, and network growth while maintaining high levels of safety and reliability.
• Oversee airline safety management systems (SMS), risk assessment processes, emergency response planning, and business continuity initiatives.
• Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with organizational objectives and business growth plans.
• Lead large, multi-disciplinary teams across multiple operational locations.
• Manage operational budgets, resource planning, and cost control initiatives.
• Support organizational localization and talent development programs, including Emiratization initiatives where applicable.
• Establish strong relationships with airports, aviation authorities, service providers, and strategic partners.
• Lead operational readiness programs for new routes, airports, terminals, and fleet expansion projects.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aviation, Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• Master's degree or Executive MBA preferred.
• Aviation regulatory leadership certifications preferred.
• Safety Management System (SMS) qualifications highly desirable.

Experience Required

• 15+ years of aviation industry experience.
• 8+ years in senior aviation operations leadership roles.
• Proven experience managing airline operational departments and large-scale workforces.
• Experience acting as an Accountable Manager, Post Holder, COO, Head of Operations, or equivalent leadership position.
• Demonstrated experience dealing with aviation regulators such as GCAA, EASA, ICAO, or equivalent authorities.
• Experience leading operational transformation and business growth initiatives.
• Strong track record in operational safety, compliance, and audit management.
