Job Summary

The successful candidate will coordinate food and beverage operations to ensure efficient service, high-quality products and an excellent customer experience. The role requires strong organisation, communication and customer service skills, with the ability to coordinate staff, suppliers, stock, menus and service requirements in a professional and timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

Food and Beverage Operations
  • Coordinate daily food and beverage activities, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery.
  • Support the planning and delivery of menus, refreshments, catering services and special events.
  • Monitor service standards, presentation, portion control, product quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate front-of-house and back-of-house activities to maintain effective communication and workflow.
  • Ensure food and beverage areas are properly prepared, stocked, presented and maintained throughout service.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to customer requests, feedback, complaints and special requirements.
Team Coordination and Communication
  • Coordinate daily duties, service requirements and task allocation with food and beverage team members.
  • Support the induction, training and development of employees, temporary staff and service personnel where required.
  • Communicate menus, bookings, events, dietary requirements and operational updates accurately to relevant teams.
  • Liaise with chefs, catering staff, waiting staff, managers, clients, suppliers and external service providers.
  • Assist with resolving operational issues and escalate significant concerns to the appropriate manager.
  • Promote a professional, inclusive and customer-focused working environment.
Stock, Purchasing and Supplier Management
  • Monitor stock levels of food, beverages, service equipment, consumables and cleaning supplies.
  • Prepare stock requests, purchase orders and replenishment requirements in line with agreed procedures.
  • Receive, check and record deliveries, confirming the quality, quantity and condition of products.
  • Store food, beverages and supplies correctly, following stock rotation and temperature control procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of stock usage, wastage, deliveries, expenditure and supplier information.
  • Build positive working relationships with approved suppliers and report delivery or product concerns promptly.
Food Safety, Hygiene and Compliance
  • Follow food safety, hygiene, allergen management, licensing, health and safety and company procedures.
  • Ensure food and beverage preparation, storage and service areas are clean, safe and well organised.
  • Check that allergens, dietary requirements and special requests are communicated and managed accurately.
  • Monitor food temperatures, use-by dates, cleaning schedules and safe handling practices.
  • Report accidents, incidents, hazards, equipment faults and compliance concerns without delay.
  • Support internal checks, inspections, audits and continuous improvement initiatives where required.
Events and Customer Service
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of meetings, functions, private events and hospitality services.
  • Confirm event details including menus, guest numbers, timings, room layouts, equipment and staffing requirements.
  • Coordinate the setup, service and clear-down of food and beverage areas for events and daily operations.
  • Provide attentive, courteous and professional service to customers, guests and stakeholders.
  • Ensure service requirements are adapted appropriately for dietary, cultural, accessibility and personal preferences.
  • Collect customer feedback and make recommendations to improve food, beverage and hospitality services.
Administration and Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records, checklists, schedules, service plans and operational documentation.
  • Assist with budgeting, cost control, invoice checking and monitoring food and beverage expenditure.
  • Prepare routine updates and reports covering stock, staffing, service standards, wastage and customer feedback.
  • Ensure menus, price lists, product information and allergen details are current and presented accurately.
  • Support the implementation of operational policies, service procedures and improvement plans.
  • Work flexibly to meet changing operational requirements, including evenings, weekends, public holidays and special events.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Previous experience in food and beverage coordination, hospitality, catering, restaurant operations, events or customer service.
  • Experience coordinating food service teams, suppliers, stock or hospitality events is desirable.
  • Knowledge of food preparation, beverage service, menu planning and hospitality standards.
  • Knowledge of UK food safety, hygiene, allergen awareness and health and safety requirements.
  • A qualification in hospitality, catering, food and beverage management or a related subject is desirable.
  • Current food hygiene certification, or willingness to obtain it where required.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office or relevant stock, booking and hospitality management systems.
  • The ability to provide suitable professional references and complete relevant background checks.
