Senior Azure Data Engineer - Banking

Build Azure data platforms that operate at enterprise scale

We are looking for an experienced Senior Azure Data Engineer to design, build and evolve scalable data platforms for complex enterprise environments within CGI’s Financial Services sector. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who combines deep knowledge of the Azure data stack with strong ownership, sound engineering practices and the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.

You will contribute to challenging projects for financial services clients in the Netherlands, working with technologies including Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 and Infrastructure as Code.

What you will do

• Design and develop production-grade Azure data platforms, as well as proofs of concept where appropriate.
• Build, optimize and orchestrate reliable data pipelines for distributed data environments.
• Engineer data solutions using Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 and Parquet.
• Develop scalable data processing workloads with Azure Databricks and Spark.
• Design analytics solutions using Azure Synapse and orchestrate data flows with Azure Data Factory.
• Enable integrations through Azure API Management.
• Apply DevOps, Git and CI/CD practices throughout the development lifecycle.
• Design, implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep and Azure Resource Manager.
• Diagnose and resolve data and platform issues efficiently, including compute and memory-related challenges in distributed environments.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams.
• Take ownership of data infrastructure while adapting to evolving technologies and requirements.

What you bring

• 7+ years of professional experience in data engineering.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of the Azure data stack, including Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory and Azure API Management.
• Strong Python and PySpark skills.
• Experience querying and processing data across distributed data clusters.
• Knowledge of distributed data management, including compute and memory management.
• Understanding of Data Mesh architecture and its application in enterprise environments.
• A strong DevOps mindset with practical experience in Infrastructure as Code, Git and CI/CD.
• The ability to explain technical topics clearly, solve problems methodically and work effectively with different stakeholders.

Additional experience we value

• Azure certifications in data engineering or solution architecture.
• Experience in Financial Services.
