Job description

Medior Test Automation Engineer

Are you a hands-on tester who wants to take the next step in test automation? In this role, you will combine manual testing with automation and help the QA team transform its testing approach from predominantly manual to 80% automated.

Your role

You will join a small QA team responsible for testing web applications through UI and API testing. Currently, approximately 75% of testing is performed manually, while automated tests are mainly used for regression testing.

You will initially focus on manual testing to gain a thorough understanding of the applications, business processes and users. As your knowledge grows, you will help design, build and expand the test automation framework.

This position is also suitable for an ambitious manual tester who already has some automation experience and is eager to develop further.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Manually testing new and existing features
  • Designing, developing and maintaining automated UI tests
  • Expanding the automated regression test suite
  • Testing APIs and integrations
  • Analysing test results and identifying defects and quality risks
  • Collaborating closely with developers and other stakeholders
  • Contributing to QA processes and continuous quality improvements
  • Integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
  • Taking ownership of the testing process and overall product quality

Technology

The team currently works with:

  • TypeScript
  • Playwright
  • Cucumber
  • API testing tools
  • CI/CD pipelines

Experience with this exact technology stack is preferred but not mandatory. Experience with comparable tools such as Cypress, Selenium or Robot Framework can also provide a strong foundation.

What we are looking for

  • Professional experience in software testing
  • Recent experience with test automation or a clear ambition to specialise in it
  • Experience testing web or UI applications
  • Knowledge of API testing is an advantage
  • Understanding of QA processes and testing methodologies
  • Experience working in a Scrum or Agile environment
  • Familiarity with CI/CD principles
  • The ability to clearly explain your responsibilities and contribution to previous projects

Who you are

You communicate clearly and directly and are comfortable raising quality concerns. You take responsibility for your work, look beyond individual test cases and actively contribute to improving the overall testing process.

You are:

  • Proactive and eager to learn
  • Quality-driven and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable taking ownership
  • Direct and constructive in your communication
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively
