About the Role

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Consultant Pediatric Ophthalmologist to join a leading healthcare organization in Qatar. The successful candidate will provide specialized diagnostic, medical, and surgical care for infants, children, and adolescents with eye disorders, while working within a multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering exceptional patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and manage a wide range of pediatric ophthalmic conditions, including strabismus, amblyopia, congenital cataracts, pediatric glaucoma, refractive disorders, and retinal diseases.
  • Perform comprehensive pediatric eye examinations and specialized diagnostic procedures.
  • Conduct pediatric ophthalmic surgeries, including strabismus surgery and other age-appropriate surgical interventions.
  • Develop individualized treatment and management plans based on best clinical practices.
  • Collaborate with pediatricians, neurologists, geneticists, and other specialists in the management of complex cases.
  • Provide consultation services for neonatal and pediatric intensive care units when required.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and preventive eye care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and clinical governance activities.
  • Supervise and mentor junior physicians, residents, fellows, and allied healthcare professionals.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, research activities, and continuing medical education programs.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
  • Board Certification / CCT / Fellowship in Ophthalmology.
  • Fellowship or subspecialty training in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing as a Consultant Pediatric Ophthalmologist.
  • Expertise in pediatric ophthalmic surgery and management of complex pediatric eye disorders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership and multidisciplinary teamwork abilities.
  • Commitment to delivering patient-centered, evidence-based care.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in Qatar.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Western Board Certification (UK CCT, FRCOphth, American Board, Canadian Fellowship, Australian Fellowship, or equivalent).
  • Academic, research, or teaching experience.
  • Experience working in tertiary care or children's hospitals.
