The opportunity 

 

Join Hitachi, Ltd. as an Equipment Engineer and play a key role in optimizing and maintaining manufacturing equipment to ensure high performance, reliability, and efficiency. You will work in a collaborative environment, contributing to continuous improvement and supporting innovative manufacturing processes. 

As a Diffusion Maintenance Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the availability, efficiency, and continuous improvement of semiconductor high temperature production systems. This role focuses on the Corrective and Preventive maintenance and optimization of Diffusion & Cleaning equipment while working closely with cross-functional teams to enhance safety, productivity, and system reliability.

How you’ll make an impact 

Develop and implement modifications and upgrades to existing manufacturing equipment to improve efficiency, yield, and safety 

Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of complex manufacturing machinery and systems 

Analyse equipment performance data to identify trends, predict failures, and implement preventive measures 

Collaborate with production, R&D, and quality teams to resolve equipment-related issues and optimize processes 

Create and maintain documentation for equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and technical specifications 

Train technicians and operators on new equipment and updated procedures 

Manage spare parts inventory and ensure timely procurement of required components and ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations 

Support the selection, installation, and qualification of new manufacturing equipment 

Your background 

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or electrical Engineering 

Minimum 2 years of experience in equipment engineering within a manufacturing environment 

Experience in the Semiconductor field is a must

Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and control systems 

Solid understanding of electronics, mechanics, and pneumatics; experience with Diffusion Semiconductor systems (e.g., ASM, Centrotherm furnaces)

Proven ability to troubleshoot complex machinery and identify root causes of failures 

Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methods 

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills 

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment 

English is mandatory, German is beneficial
