Job description

This role offers an opportunity to join DBS’ Group Tax team and build a comprehensive tax career in the banking and financial services industry. You will be responsible for cross-border tax compliance and advisory matters to stakeholders across the various functions of the bank, focusing on Transfer Pricing (TP) and US withholding taxes. As part of a high-functioning and strategic Finance function, you will have the opportunity to develop financial services expertise and learn directly from senior tax specialists.

Key Accountabilities 

Support seniors in the Group Tax team with the following matters:

  • Perform Transfer Pricing (TP) and US Qualified Intermediary (QI) compliance, including collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver robust documentation, perform assurance testing and timely regulatory submission.

  • Provide transactional tax advisory support to various business units across the Bank under senior supervision, evaluating and analysing complex tax implications relating to global TP and US QI regulations.

  • Work with stakeholders to operationalise TP and US QI rules into business processes, strengthen governance frameworks and proactively managing operational tax risks.

  • Support the Bank's transfer pricing audit defence, dispute resolution processes, QI periodic reviews.

Job Duties & responsibilities 

Support seniors in the Tax team with the following matters:

  • Assist in reconciliation of related party transaction data and the preparation of Transfer Pricing (TP) documentation (including Master and Local Files) on a timely basis, ensuring compliance with Singapore and Global TP regulations.

  • Support US QI withholding tax compliance matters, including working closely with and providing guidance to Business/Operations teams to ensure US tax documentation, withholding, and reporting compliance for the Group.

  • Support TP and US QI advisory to business units and group entities in relation to existing/new business operations/transactions, where required.

  • Facilitate updates to procedural manuals, compliance checklists, and operating models to seamlessly embed new regulatory updates or business initiatives into the Bank's workflows.

  • Conduct internal health-checks and compliance reviews, tracking the remediation of audit findings to ensure continuous operational and tax audit readiness.

  • Assist in addressing queries from tax authorities during audits, and support dispute resolution and tax ruling applications.

  • Other ad-hoc projects as assigned.

Required Experience

We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related fields.

  • Professional Qualification such as SCTP, ISCA, ACA/ACCA, etc. (preferred but not mandatory).

  • Transfer pricing, withholding tax, and/or international experience, ideally gained in a Big 4 professional firm for at least 3 to 5 years. Relevant industry exposure may be viewed favourably.

Core Competencies 

  • Highly motivated, adaptable and a fast learner with a strong eagerness to deepen knowledge of taxation, banking operations, finance and other related bank processes.

  • Proficient in handling and organising financial data with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel. Familiarity in analytics software and/or AI tools is an advantage.

  • Strong research, analytical and lateral-thinking skills to evaluate tax impact for business and other related implications.

  • Strong and confident communicator with effective style adaptation both verbally and written to support and manage the communication with both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Positive solution-oriented mindset with a willingness to embrace new challenges with an open and proactive attitude.
