About the Role

We are seeking a Business Analyst – Energy Industry (Energiewirtschaft) to join our team responsible for technical market communication within the German energy market.

Our team acts as a central hub for the exchange of energy-market data between participating companies. We ensure that critical processes such as customer registration and deregistration, supplier switching, and billing can operate reliably and efficiently.

In this role, you will analyze and document energy-market processes, translate business requirements into IT specifications, develop and execute test cases, and help optimize business rules and process logic.

You will work at the intersection of energy-market processes, regulatory requirements, business analysis, and IT systems.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Market Communication

• Work in technical market communication within the German energy industry.
• Apply relevant regulatory requirements and guidelines issued by the Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur).
• Support reliable and automated information exchange between market participants.
• Analyze the impact of regulatory changes on market processes and IT systems.

Market Process Analysis

• Analyze, design, and document market and supplier-switching processes.
• Examine complex energy-market workflows and process dependencies.
• Document process logic in a structured and transparent manner.
• Analyze decision trees, conditions, and complex business rules.
• Identify opportunities to optimize existing processes and decision structures.

Business & Technical Requirements

• Gather and analyze business requirements.
• Translate business requirements into detailed specifications for IT systems.
• Develop clear and actionable technical requirements for implementation teams.
• Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams.
• Ensure requirements are clearly understood and accurately implemented.

Analysis & Problem Solving

• Independently analyze complex business and technical topics.
• Identify root causes, dependencies, and potential solutions.
• Work with logical structures including AND, OR, XOR, decision trees, and multi-level conditional logic.
• Prepare analytical findings and recommendations for different stakeholder groups.
• Present complex information in a clear, structured, and understandable way.

Testing & Quality Assurance

• Create, execute, and evaluate test cases.
• Validate business and technical solutions against defined requirements.
• Perform quality assurance activities independently.
• Identify defects, inconsistencies, and process issues.
• Support continuous improvement of solution quality and reliability.

Process & Knowledge Management

• Analyze and further develop business rules, process logic, and decision structures.
• Identify opportunities for process optimization.
• Support quality assurance activities across teams.
• Share knowledge and contribute to knowledge transfer across departments.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve processes and solutions.

Qualifications

• Successfully completed degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a comparable qualification.
• Strong understanding of Boolean logic, relational databases, and complex business rules.
• Ability to analyze logical relationships such as AND, OR, and XOR.
• Experience working with decision trees and multi-level conditional structures.
• Knowledge of APIs and YAML.
• Initial experience with SAP systems.
• Basic understanding of modern IT architectures.
• Strong analytical and structured approach to complex problems.
• High level of IT affinity and interest in innovative technologies.
• Ability to independently learn new topics and systems.
• Strong organizational and coordination skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• German language proficiency at C1 level.
• English language proficiency at B2 level.
