Union Dredgers & Marine Contracting (UDMC) is looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to manage project cost control, quantity measurement, estimation, procurement support, and commercial documentation for marine and civil construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs, BOQs, cost estimates, and project budgets.
- Review drawings, specifications, contracts, and scope of work to identify quantities and commercial requirements.
- Monitor project costs, commitments, variations, and overall budget performance.
- Prepare and evaluate variation orders, claims, and payment applications.
- Verify subcontractor and supplier quotations, invoices, and payment certificates.
- Assist in tender preparation, pricing, rate analysis, and commercial evaluations.
- Maintain accurate records of project quantities, costs, variations, and supporting documents.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, Procurement, Finance, and site teams regarding commercial matters.
- Conduct site measurements and verify completed works against approved drawings and BOQs.
- Support contract administration and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
- Prepare regular cost reports, forecast reports, and commercial updates for management.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and potential commercial risks.
- Ensure proper documentation and filing of all QS and contractual records.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 3–7 years of relevant experience, preferably within UAE marine, dredging, civil, infrastructure, or construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of BOQ preparation, quantity take-off, estimation, cost control, variations, and claims.
- Good understanding of construction contracts and commercial procedures.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and AutoCAD; knowledge of quantity surveying/cost management software is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, numerical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with project and site teams.
- UAE experience is preferred.
- Candidates with marine/dredging project experience will have an advantage.
