Job description

(Senior) Structural Engineer

Join Petrodec's Engineering team and help shape the structural backbone of our offshore operations.

As (Senior) Structural Engineer, you provide structural and engineering expertise across Petrodec's Operations, Projects, and Wells teams. You develop and review structural calculations, designs, and technical documentation, ensuring every solution meets the highest engineering standards, codes, and offshore requirements. You'll work at the crossroads of technical excellence and hands-on offshore practice — office-based, with regular offshore and site visits.

What You'll Do

  • Deliver structural engineering support and calculations across the concept, engineering, and pre-engineering phases.
  • Develop, review, and approve technical drawings, deck layouts, lifting plans, calculations, and reports.
  • Spot structural deficiencies and drive practical, effective solutions.
  • Support engineering change requests and continuous improvement of technical standards.
  • Take part in vessel tests, marine operations, and offshore activities.
  • Manage external engineering partners and ensure top-quality deliverables.
  • Mentor colleagues and help grow engineering capability within the team.
  • Champion safety, quality, and environmental best practice in everything you do.

What You Bring

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of offshore, oil & gas, or project experience, including 3+ years at engineering level.
  • Strong structural analysis skills and confidence producing detailed drawings, layouts, and lifting plans.
  • Solid understanding of ship construction, marine operations, vessel stability, and classification requirements.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, stability software, and structural calculation tools.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills — able to juggle priorities and deadlines with ease.
  • A natural leader who enjoys guiding others and driving continuous improvement.
  • Fluent English, spoken and written.

Nice to have: familiarity with Safety Cases, Performance Standards, Written Schemes of Verification, or offshore/maritime legislation.
