Job Title: Business Risk Analyst (Operational Risk & Controls Analyst – Post-Trade Surveillance & QA Testing)

  • Client: UOB Bank; Private Bank, Business Risk & Control Management

  • Employment Type: Temp Staff (Agency Contract); Full-Time; 24 months initial contract under D L Resources, renewable based on performance/project demand.

  • Work Location: Full Work From Office (One Raffles Place)

- Work Hours: 9am - 6:30PM; Mon - Fri (Friday till 5:30PM)

  • Leaves (Per annum Or Prorated for contract <12m) 14 days AL; 14 days ML; Corp Medical Insurance Coverage

Job Description

As a member of Private Bank Business Risk & Control Management (BRCM) team, you will play

an important role in exercising risk oversight over front office activities through quality assurance

checks across Anti-Fraud and Suitability.

Specifically, this role will focus on conducting quality assurance through regular/thematic testing

and ongoing post transaction reviews. You may be required to drive risk and control initiatives

across Private Bank to implement new regulatory requirements or controls enhancement.

This role entails:

  • Post trade surveillance (tape listening, email surveillance) for client accounts.

  • Develop subject matter expertise on investment products and related regulatory

requirements and Front office controls (e.g. Investment Suitability / Anti-Fraud).

  • Identify root causes and propose corrective actions to regularise process related exceptions.

  • Interact with Front Office staff to provide testing results, analyse disputes and conduct

reassessments whenever necessary.

  • Participates in discussions with business and risk partners on risk/process issues (e.g.

Compliance, COO functions, Internal/External Audit).

  • Recommends and implements enhancements to improve effectiveness and efficiency of

Controls Framework and related processes.

  • Provide sound and pragmatic risk advisory to Front Office and support function for

initiatives/activities and project

Requirements

  • Preference for 2 – 3 years experience in Sales Ops Quality Assurance (QA) / controls testing or surveillance function.

  • The candidate will spend most of their time on anti-fraud controls, such as post-trade surveillance, tape listening, email surveillance, identifying suspicious activity, reviewing exceptions, and supporting fraud-related risk reviews.

  • Open To candidates with Prior experience in adjacent functions, such as banking compliance, AML transaction monitoring, or KYC

  • The candidate must have strong reporting & controls testing experience: Using Excel and able to prepare reports, track testing results, consolidate findings, analyze data, and present control/testing outcomes clearly. They will also handle part of the investment suitability work, which involves checking whether investment products or transactions are appropriate for the client based on their profile, risk appetite, knowledge, objectives, and regulatory requirements.

  • Good knowledge of front office processes and internal controls within a private bank set-up

  • Team player, partnering with other colleagues to achieve a common goal

  • Proven ability to balance business needs and controls requirements

  • Independent, able to work under pressure and deliver testing results

  • Effective communication and analytical skills; and has demonstrated the ability to work

effectively with all levels within the organization

  • Knowledge of Excel with reporting experience

  • Nature of Role: Review recorded calls and emails of front-office staff to identify non-compliance, risky client handling, or control breaches. Where issues are found, propose corrective actions and professionally reassess or defend findings if disputed. Exposure to trade monitoring and voice log reviews is helpful.

  • Private Banking Product Knowledge: Good understanding of private banking products is preferred, including unit trusts, structured notes, dual currency investments, bonds, equities, accumulators/decumulators, foreign exchange (FX), foreign exchange derivatives, and discretionary portfolio management (DPM). It’s also helpful to have knowledge of the full trade lifecycle – from client order placement to execution, settlement, and post-trade checks. You’ll work closely with risk, compliance, audit, and operations teams to strengthen controls and support new regulatory requirements. Strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently are important in this role

  • Anti-Fraud Controls: Current (2026) focus is mainly on anti-fraud controls, with some investment suitability reviews. The role involves post-trade surveillance, call and email reviews, exception handling, and identifying suspicious activity across areas such as money transfers, static data changes, dormant accounts, and portfolio reviews. Suitability checks will focus on whether investment transactions align with the client’s profile, risk appetite, objectives, and regulatory requirements.

  • Perform

investment suitability and sales conduct reviews

through voice log / tape surveillance and post-trade checks. Assess whether Private Bankers / Relationship Managers have properly disclosed product risks, investment concentration, risk mismatches, pricing, trade volume, and other key transaction details to clients. Review whether investment products or transactions are suitable for the client based on their risk profile, objectives, knowledge, financial situation, and regulatory requirements. Identify potential sales conduct issues, missing disclosures, control breaches, or unsuitable transactions, and document findings with clear corrective actions

  • This role previously focused on non-compliant sales method from front office with currently focus on anti-fraud controls:

(1) money transfer, static change, dormant account portfolio reviews and such anti fraud measures

(2) investment suitability related checks (but less here)
