Job description

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Consultant Sports Medicine Physician to join a leading healthcare organization in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive, evidence-based care for athletes and active individuals, with a focus on sports injury prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic sports-related injuries and musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Conduct comprehensive sports medicine assessments and develop individualized treatment and rehabilitation plans.
  • Manage muscle, ligament, tendon, joint, and overuse injuries.
  • Perform and interpret appropriate clinical investigations and imaging.
  • Provide ultrasound-guided procedures and injections where appropriately trained.
  • Develop injury prevention, rehabilitation, and return-to-sport programs.
  • Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons, physiotherapists, radiologists, rehabilitation specialists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Conduct pre-participation and fitness assessments for athletes.
  • Support athletes with performance optimization and exercise prescription.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and follow evidence-based guidelines.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, clinical education, and quality-improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • MBBS/MD or equivalent medical degree.
  • Recognized specialist/consultant qualification in Sports Medicine or an equivalent relevant specialty.
  • Valid DOH (Department of Health – Abu Dhabi) license/eligibility or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Significant post-specialization experience in sports medicine and musculoskeletal care.
  • Strong clinical experience in the diagnosis and management of sports injuries.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Expertise Experience in musculoskeletal ultrasound, ultrasound-guided injections, sports injury rehabilitation, regenerative medicine, exercise medicine, athlete screening, injury prevention, and return-to-play protocols will be advantageous.
