Data and Graph Platform Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Database & Kubernetes Engineer to own and evolve the data layer across relational and graph databases , as well as the Kubernetes infrastructure that runs them.

You will support multiple concurrent initiatives within Digital Cloud Infrastructure Engineering , including the Internal Developer Platform , cloud infrastructure, and data platform projects. This role is not limited to a single initiative and will involve working closely with engineers across multiple platform domains.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and optimize PostgreSQL for reliability, scalability, and performance, including backups, replication, indexing strategies, and capacity planning.
• Design, model, and query graph data using Cypher across Neo4j and FalkorDB .
• Develop software-catalog-style data models covering entities, ownership, dependencies, and relationships to support catalog visualization and impact analysis.
• Advise engineering teams on when a domain is better represented using a graph database versus a relational schema .
• Operate stateful workloads on Kubernetes , including StatefulSets, Persistent Volumes, Storage Classes, and database operators.
• Support schema design and query optimization across both relational and graph database paradigms.
• Contribute to the reliability, scalability, and operational maturity of database and cloud infrastructure platforms.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL administration and performance tuning .
• Solid experience with graph database modeling and Cypher queries , particularly with Neo4j and/or FalkorDB .
• Strong Kubernetes operations experience, specifically with stateful services , storage, backups, and database operators.
• Strong understanding of database architecture and the ability to determine when graph traversal is more effective than relational joins , and vice versa.
• Experience operating production-grade databases and infrastructure environments.

Preferred Skills

• Experience comparing, integrating, or migrating between FalkorDB and Neo4j .
• Experience with data pipelines or ETL processes.
• Exposure to service catalog, CMDB, or dependency-graph modeling .
• Basic Go development experience.
• Familiarity with gRPC .
