Job description

The Senior Category Manager, Logistics - APAC is a senior strategic logistics procurement leadership role with accountability for end-to-end logistics category strategy, sourcing, supplier management, and value delivery across the Asia Pacific region.

Based in Singapore or Sydney, this role owns the development and execution of multi-year logistics category strategies covering container freight, ocean freight forwarding, airfreight, express and parcel, regional road and domestic transportation, warehousing, customs brokerage, trade-related services, and strategic 3PL/4PL partnerships.

The role is designed for top-tier global procurement talent with deep APAC logistics, Global Ocean and Airfreight and supply chain expertise, a proven track record in category management and high-value negotiations, and the ability to operate credibly at executive level across a complex, matrixed organization. Container freight and airfreight are critical focus areas, given APAC trade lane complexity, market volatility, capacity dynamics, and the need to balance cost, service, resilience, and compliance.

This position plays a critical role in enabling business growth, margin improvement, service excellence, supply chain resilience, and sustainability across APAC while contributing directly to ResMed's Next Generation Supply Chain transformation.

Let's Talk About Responsibilities

•   End-to-End Category Ownership: Own the end-to-end APAC logistics category strategy with full accountability for regional logistics spend, supplier strategy, sourcing roadmap, and annual value delivery. Translate global logistics category strategies into APAC-executable commercial models while actively shaping global strategy through APAC market intelligence, performance data, risk insights, and supplier innovation.

•   Container Freight, Airfreight and International Transportation Strategy: Lead the global category strategy for containerized ocean freight and airfreight, including FCL, LCL, freight forwarding, NVOCC and carrier models, consolidations, import/export lanes, express and critical shipment solutions, and mode optimization between air, ocean, parcel, and ground transportation. Build robust lane-level commercial strategies covering rate structures, capacity commitments, peak season planning, spot versus long-term contracting, and service differentiation.

•   Strategic Sourcing and Commercial Governance: Design and govern high-value RFI, RFP, RFQ, and negotiation processes for global and regional logistics providers, including freight forwarders, ocean carriers, integrators, customs brokers, warehouse operators, and 3PL/4PL partners. Use total cost of ownership, should-cost analysis, freight benchmarking, demand modelling, and market intelligence to deliver competitive and sustainable commercial outcomes.

•   Negotiation and Contracting Leadership: Establish strong commercial frameworks including rate cards, indexation mechanisms, fuel and accessorial governance, airfreight surcharge structures, demurrage and detention controls, service credits, liability and claims provisions, minimum volume or capacity commitments, performance-based agreements, and risk-sharing models aligned to market dynamics and business needs.

•   Supplier Relationship Management and Risk Leadership: Own the strategic supplier portfolio for APAC logistics, including segmentation, partnership models, executive business reviews, performance management, corrective action plans, and innovation pipelines. Lead supplier governance forums with credibility and commercial authority, creating clear expectations on service, cost, resilience, quality, compliance, working capital, and sustainability.

•   Resilience, Compliance and Trade Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate logistics-related risks across APAC, including capacity constraints, port and airport disruption, geopolitical exposure, customs and trade compliance, regulatory changes, carrier financial health, labor constraints, climate events, cybersecurity exposure, and business continuity. Develop alternative lanes, escalation paths, and contingency sourcing models to protect service and supply continuity.

•   Business Partnership and Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner closely with regional and global Distribution, Logistics, Trade Compliance, Quality, Planning, Operations, Finance, Legal, and Procurement teams to ensure sourcing decisions support network design, inventory strategy, customer service requirements, regulatory compliance, and cost-to-serve objectives. Act as a trusted commercial advisor to senior operations and supply chain leaders, translating logistics complexity into clear, fact-based business decisions.

•   Digital Procurement, Analytics and Transformation: Support procurement and supply chain transformation through adoption of e-sourcing platforms, TMS, freight benchmarking tools, spend analytics, contract repositories, supplier scorecards, and performance dashboards. Use data to improve visibility, decision quality, negotiation preparation, and ongoing supplier governance.

•   Sustainability and Continuous Improvement: Integrate sustainability into APAC logistics category strategies, including emissions visibility, modal optimization, supplier sustainability commitments, packaging and consolidation opportunities, and lower-carbon logistics alternatives where commercially and operationally viable.

This role directly influences the cost structure, service performance, resilience, and scalability of the APAC supply chain. Decisions made by the Senior Category Manager, Logistics - APAC shape logistics network economics, supplier partnerships, lane strategy, service reliability, and the company's ability to adapt and compete in volatile and regulated markets.

Success in this role is measured by sustained value delivery, improved logistics service outcomes, stronger supplier performance, reduced risk exposure, improved commercial governance, and closer alignment between logistics sourcing strategies and business growth objectives.

Let's Talk About Qualifications and Experience

Required

•   Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Logistics, Business, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

•   10 to 15+ years of progressive experience in logistics procurement, category management, strategic sourcing, freight procurement, or supply chain commercial leadership.

•   Proven ownership of large, complex regional or global logistics spend, ideally across APAC and including container freight, airfreight, express/parcel, freight forwarding, customs brokerage, warehousing, domestic transportation, and 3PL/4PL services.

•   Demonstrated track record in category management, including category strategy development, market analysis, spend analytics, supplier segmentation, sourcing pipeline management, supplier governance, and measurable value delivery.

•   Proven success leading complex, high-value negotiations with logistics providers, including freight forwarders, carriers, integrators, warehouse operators, customs brokers, and strategic 3PL partners.

•   Strong commercial acumen with hands-on experience in contract structuring, freight rate models, indexation, accessorial and surcharge governance, should-cost analysis, total cost of ownership, service credits, claims, liability provisions, and performance-based agreements.

•   Strong understanding of APAC logistics market dynamics, international transportation lanes, Incoterms, customs and trade requirements, capacity cycles, and operational drivers of cost, service, and risk.

•   Ability to operate at both strategic and executive levels, influencing senior stakeholders while balancing cost, service, resilience, quality, compliance, working capital, and sustainability.

•   Experience working in global, matrixed organizations with strong cross-regional and cross-functional collaboration.

•   Strong analytical capability and confidence using e-sourcing platforms, TMS, freight benchmarking tools, Excel/Power BI or similar analytics, and supplier performance dashboards.

•   Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; ability to work across cultures, time zones, and APAC markets. Willingness to travel regionally and occasionally globally as required.

Preferred

•   MBA, Master's degree, or equivalent professional procurement certification.

•   Direct experience with global container freight and airfreight sourcing across major trade lanes, including Singapore, Australia, Southeast Asia, China, Trans-Pacific, Europe and broader Asia Pacific markets.

•   Experience in healthcare, medical technology, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or other regulated supply chain environments.

•   Exposure to customs brokerage, trade compliance, bonded warehousing, and cross-border logistics requirements across APAC.

•   Experience contributing to procurement or supply chain transformation initiatives, including digital tools, analytics, standardization, supplier governance, and sustainability programs.

Leadership Expectations

•   Accountability and Value Creation: High accountability mindset with a clear bias for measurable outcomes, disciplined execution, and sustained value delivery.

•   Executive Communication: Ability to distill complex logistics, freight market, and commercial topics into clear, actionable decisions for senior stakeholders.

•   Commercial Leadership: Confident and credible negotiator who can challenge supplier positions, structure balanced agreements, and protect the business without damaging strategic partnerships.

•   Change Leadership: Comfort operating in ambiguity, leading change, and challenging legacy logistics models to unlock structural improvement.

•   Collaboration with Edge: Collaborative but firm leadership style, capable of engaging senior internal stakeholders and global logistics partners with credibility, curiosity, and authority.

•   Global Mindset: Ability to work across cultures, functions, and regions while keeping APAC business needs aligned with global category direction.

Location and Reporting Context

•   This role is based in Singapore or Sydney, Australia, and operates as a member of the Global Logistics Procurement leadership community.

•   The Senior Category Manager, Logistics - APAC reports into the Director, Global Category Management - Logistics and works in close partnership with regional and global category teams, logistics and distribution leadership, trade compliance, operations, finance, legal, quality, and supply chain executives across APAC.

•   The role requires regional APAC engagement and occasional global collaboration outside standard local working hours, reflecting the global nature of logistics markets, supplier negotiations, and supply chain operations.
