Job description
As an Engineer in Offshore & Shipbuilding, you play a crucial role in creating safe, sustainable and efficient projects on or offshore. From shipbuilding to floating offshore platforms.
Responsibilities
- For an offshore and marine engineering environment in the Rotterdam area, we are mapping the availability of experienced Cadmatic Hull Designers.
- A new offshore vessel project is expected to move forward, although final approval is still pending. The intention is to execute the hull design in Cadmatic Hull. The work will mainly focus on basic design for offshore vessels and jack-up related concepts, not detailed production drawings, as those are typically handled by the yard.
- The project scope may include offshore installation vessels, jack-up vessels and wind turbine installation vessels, including hull structures, jack-up legs, tank arrangements and main steel layouts.
- Develop and maintain hull models in Cadmatic Hull.
- Work on basic design deliverables for offshore and marine vessel concepts.
- Model steel structures, hull sections and main structural arrangements.
- Support tank plans, forward arrangements, plate thicknesses and overall hull layouts.
- Translate naval architectural and structural input into a workable hull model.
- Ensure the design is technically sound and suitable for further development by the yard.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines.
- Support class-approved basic design documentation.
- Help set up the Cadmatic Hull project structure and advise on efficient modelling methods.
Requirements
- Proven project experience with Cadmatic Hull.
- Strong background in shipbuilding, hull design or naval architecture.
- Solid experience with steel structures and structural vessel arrangements.
- Experience with basic design of marine or offshore vessels.
- Knowledge of hull layouts, tank plans and plate thickness definition.
- Experience with offshore vessels, jack-up vessels, wind turbine installation vessels or heavy-lift vessels is strongly preferred.
- Able to work independently and add practical Cadmatic Hull knowledge to the team.
- Strong communication skills in English.
- Dutch is a plus, but not required.
- Note: this role is not suitable for someone who has only followed a short Cadmatic Hull training. We are looking for a designer who has actively used Cadmatic Hull in real projects and can independently contribute from the start.
