Job description

ZEISS Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology

Enabler for smaller, more powerful, and more energy-efficient microchips

Working for tomorrow today.

Around 80 percent of all microchips worldwide are produced using ZEISS technologies. As the centerpiece of every electronically controlled system, they have become an integral part of our everyday lives – whether in smartphones, smart homes or smart factories. ZEISS is a technology leader in the field of semiconductor manufacturing equipment. With high-precision lithography optics, photomask systems and process control solutions, ZEISS enables the production of ever smaller, increasingly powerful, and more energy-efficient microchips, and thus plays a pivotal role in the age of micro- and nanoelectronics.

Become part of an interdisciplinary team of engineers, chemists and materials scientists working at – and pushing – the limits of what is technically possible. We achieve this through a vibrant culture of open exchange, feedback, and collaboration.

Your Role

  • You develop wet and dry cleaning processes for mechanical, electronic and mechatronic components in our DUV (deep ultraviolet) and EUV (extreme ultraviolet) systems – both in-house and within our supplier network – to meet the highest cleanliness standards of the semiconductor industry.

  • You design and implement concepts to prevent (re-)contamination during the processing of parts, modules and systems in our production facilities and cleanrooms.

  • In the event of process deviations, you support internal and external partners in root cause analysis, defining immediate containment actions and implementing sustainable corrective measures.

  • You take ownership of specific work packages in terms of timing, cost and performance and you report status updates regularly to project management.

  • You actively manage interfaces and ensure effective information flow within your interdisciplinary project team and with other internal and external stakeholders.

Your Profile

  • You have successfully completed a degree in chemistry, physics, materials science or a comparable field, ideally with a PhD.

  • You have prior knowledge in at least one of the following areas: wet cleaning, ultra-high vacuum technology, and/or surface and materials analysis (e.g. XPS, residual gas analysis, TOF-SIMS, ICP-OES, particle measurement/contamination metrology).

  • You are a strong team player: you demonstrate pronounced customer orientation, excellent communication skills, and a high level of emotional intelligence. You remain confident, respectful, and solution-focused in discussions and conflict situations.

  • You are characterized by initiative and goal orientation, an entrepreneurial mindset, and a practical, hands-on approach.

  • You have very good German and English language skills, both written and spoken.

  • The position is suitable for early-career professionals. We will provide the necessary technical and domain-specific knowledge during your onboarding and through on-the-job training with your colleagues.
