Job description

NEURA Robotics is building humanoid systems that operate in contact-rich real-world environments. Across our humanoid division we work with a broad materials palette: structural metals, microcellular foams, platinum-cure silicones, conductive textiles, and woven electronics, often within a single sub-assembly. We are looking for an engineer who treats materials selection, process definition, and manufacturing qualification as a first-class engineering discipline, and who can work fluidly across the boundary between rigid structures and soft or electrically active materials.

YOUR MISSION & CHALLENGES

  • Define and maintain the materials selection framework across humanoid programmes, covering structural, compliant, conductive, and composite categories

  • Specify soft and hybrid materials for skin, contact, and wearable sub-assemblies: mechanical properties, durability, and adhesion to rigid substrates

  • Establish and document manufacturing processes for soft assemblies: moulding, bonding, lamination, stitching, and encapsulation

  • Produce engineering-grade process documentation, work instructions, and first-article inspection criteria suitable for external manufacturing partners

  • Own supplier qualification for soft materials, textiles, and associated consumables

  • Evaluate and specify conductive textiles and woven electronic materials, including yarn selection, weave architecture, and contact resistance management

  • Build and maintain an internal materials library covering datasheets, test data, approved suppliers, and application notes

  • Work embedded with mechanical and electronics engineers to resolve materials-driven DFM issues early in the design cycle

WHAT WE CAN LOOK FORWARD TO

  • Degree in materials science, mechanical engineering, textile engineering, or a closely related field

  • Hands-on experience specifying and processing compliant materials: silicone, polyurethane foam, TPU, or equivalents in a product development context

  • Working knowledge of conductive or electronic textiles, including conductive yarn selection and contact resistance management

  • Practical stitching and textile construction knowledge sufficient to specify and validate soft assemblies

  • Experience qualifying materials and processes with contract manufacturers or external production partners

  • Ability to produce clear, transferable engineering documentation for manufacturing

  • Background in soft robotics, wearable technology, medical devices, or high-performance apparel is a strong advantage

  • English fluency required; German working proficiency is an advantage
