Key Responsibilities
### Core Accounting & Ledger Management
- Month-End Closing: Manage the timely and accurate closing of monthly accounts for assigned vessels.
- General Ledger Management: Monitor and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring all vessel-related expenses, accruals, and prepayments are recorded accurately.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare comprehensive financial statements, and schedules for each vessel.
- Chart of Accounts: Establish and maintain the chart of accounts and manage financial master data, including bank setup parameters within the IMOS and Odoo systems.
### Budgeting, Variance, & Cost Control
- Budget Formulation: Partner with chartering and operations and technical managers to develop detailed annual operating cashflow budgets for each vessel.
- Variance Analysis: Review and analyse actual expenditures against budgeted forecasts on a monthly basis; investigate and explain significant deviations.
- Funding & Cash Flow Management: Monitor vessel cash flows, ensure adequate liquidity for running costs.
### Voyage & Operations Accounting
- Revenue & Expense Tracking: Track and account for charter hire, voyage revenue and related expenses
- Invoice Verification: Review, verify, and process invoices from suppliers and service providers, ensuring correct cost allocation to specific vessels.
- Intercompany Billings: Manage intercompany transactions and recharges related to vessels accordingly
- Invoicing: Manage billing of Management fees and commission to vessels
- Receivables Monitoring: Closely monitor and update all incoming payments from charterers, ensuring accurate and timely entry into both IMOS and Odoo accounting system.
### Tax & Compliance
- Tax & Statutory Compliance: Ensure compliance with international maritime financial regulations and local statutory requirements.
### Admin
- AdminDuties: Office related admin duties assigned from time to time
Requirements & Qualifications
### Education & Experience
- Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CA) are highly advantageous.
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of accounting experience, with a strong preference for a background in the shipping, maritime, or ship-management industry .
### Technical Skills
- Software Proficiency: Strong experience with marine accounting and experience in Odoo and IMOS are highly advantageous
- Advanced Excel: Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables).
- Knowledge Base: Good understanding of maritime accounting principles, including charter hires, ship OPEX, and voyage accounting.
### Soft Skills
- Analytical Mindset: Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional technical and operational teams.
- Time Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
