Data Scientist II

Develops, analyzes, and models operational, scientific, and business data to generate insights that drive strategic decisions across Elsevier's Academic & Government segment. Applies and integrates statistical, mathematical, and machine learning methods to manage and manipulate complex, high-volume data from a variety of sources — including scholarly content, researcher behavior, and institutional metadata.

Designs and implements end-to-end data science solutions spanning content classification, natural language processing, and intelligent automation. Contributes to the development of agentic AI systems that operate across multi-step pipelines, combining retrieval, reasoning, and generation to support research discovery, content quality, and author engagement use cases. Analyzes organizational and product data to recommend solutions to new and complex problems, evaluate the potential impact of operational or algorithmic changes, and develop innovative methodologies aligned with the evolving needs of the research community.

Works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary data science team, translating ambiguous business questions into well-scoped analytical problems and delivering scalable, production-ready solutions. Engages with stakeholders across product, engineering, and domain teams to ensure solutions are both technically rigorous and business-relevant.

Primary Location Base Pay Range: NLD Amsterdam (Radarweg) €44,500 - €74,300. This role is covered by the Collective Labor Agreement Publishing Industry.
