Job description

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Manager, MPP Department to manage and develop the company’s multi-purpose vessel, heavy lift, breakbulk and project cargo business. The role will focus on chartering activities, cargo parcelling, voyage profitability, market analysis, client relationship management and business development across relevant trade lanes.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying suitable cargo and vessel opportunities, negotiating commercially viable fixtures including voyage, TCT and period arrangements, and coordinating with shipowners, brokers, cargo owners, forwarders and internal teams to support smooth execution and profitable business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop the company’s MPP, heavy lift, breakbulk and project cargo business.
  • Handle chartering activities including market analysis, cargo sourcing, freight calculation, negotiation and fixture follow-up.
  • Identify suitable cargo and vessel opportunities, including voyage, TCT and period arrangements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with cargo owners, brokers, forwarders, shipowners and other business partners.
  • Monitor market trends, freight movements, trade lanes and competitor activities to support commercial decisions.
  • Perform voyage profitability analysis, cargo parcelling and vessel utilisation planning to maximise business returns.
  • Coordinate with operations, finance and other internal teams on shipment execution, documentation, billing and post-fixture matters.
  • Support the development of liner, semi-liner or tramping business models where commercially suitable.
  • Prepare market updates, business proposals and reports for management review.
  • Carry out other duties assigned by the company from time to time.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Logistics, Business or related discipline.
  • Minimum 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in MPP, heavy lift, breakbulk, project cargo o rdry bulk shipping.
  • Strong experience in chartering, cargo parcelling, voyage calculation, fixture negotiation and client account management.
  • Good knowledge of MPP vessels, heavy lift cargo, breakbulk cargo, project cargo, trade lanes and international shipping markets.
  • Familiar with voyage, TCT and period charter arrangements.
  • Strong business development, negotiation, analytical and communication skills.
  • Able to work independently, manage commercial relationships and travel overseas when required.
  • Proficient in English and Chinese, including listening, speaking, reading and writing, to liaise with English- and Chinese-speaking clients, counterparts, vendors and internal stakeholders.
