Job description

We are looking for a:

Senior Scientist – IVD Assay Development

with strong expertise in Physico-Chemistry, Analytical Sciences, and IVD assay development to join an R&D environment. The role focuses on the development, optimization, and characterization of diagnostic assays and technologies, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex scientific and technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead experimental activities related to IVD assay development and optimization.
  • Design, execute, and interpret complex studies on biological and physico-chemical systems.
  • Improve assay performance in terms of sensitivity, specificity, robustness, and reproducibility.
  • Characterize biomolecular interactions and support activities involving fluidics and microfluidics.
  • Apply analytical methods to investigate performance and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.
  • Provide scientific guidance to junior team members.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

  • PhD in Physical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Life Sciences , or related field; alternatively, a Master’s degree with strong relevant industry experience.
  • 8-10 years of experience in IVD, diagnostics, life sciences, or medical devices.
  • Strong expertise in physico-chemical characterization and analytical method development.
  • Solid knowledge of biological systems, proteins, antibodies, biomarkers, and molecular interactions.
  • Experience with fluidics, microfluidics, capillary systems, or liquid handling technologies.
  • Proven background in assay development, optimization, troubleshooting, and validation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in regulated environments is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with lateral flow, immunoassay, molecular diagnostic, or point-of-care technologies.
  • Knowledge of surface chemistry, colloidal systems, biofunctionalization, or reagent stabilization.
  • Experience in product transfer from development to manufacturing.
  • Scientific publications, patents, or recognized expertise in diagnostics.

Location : Vaud, Switzerland

Job Type : on-site, with limited remote flexibility.
