This is an exciting job opportunity for you to light the way as a Commodity Leader in Freight & Distribution with Signify. This role is accountable for developing and executing the global commodity strategy for Freight & Distribution with a long‑term, enterprise-wide perspective. The role drives value through end‑to‑end ownership of total cost of ownership (TCO), supply assurance, supplier performance, and risk management across transportation and distribution services. Operating with a strong balance of strategic leadership and hands‑on execution, the Commodity Leader leads advanced negotiations, defines supply base and lane strategies, and steers regional and global sourcing initiatives in close partnership with Supply Chain, Packaging and Business stakeholders. The role translates volatile logistics market dynamics into clear strategies, business recommendations, and mitigation actions.

Key Areas of Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop the global Freight & Distribution commodity team across regions
  • Define and deploy the global Freight & Distribution commodity strategy aligned with business, supply chain, and margin objectives
  • Own end to end governance for freight and distribution spend of 350m EUR, including road, sea, air, rail, parcel, and warehousing
  • Lead high impact global and regional supplier negotiations, ensuring competitive cost, service levels, flexibility, and scalability
  • Drive total cost of ownership (TCO) improvements through supplier consolidation, lane optimization, network design input, and contract optimization
  • Partner closely with Supply Chain, Distribution, Manufacturing, Packaging Design, and Commercial teams to optimize transportation cost, lead time, and flexibility

More about you

The ideal candidate will bring proven experience in freight & distribution (F&D) commodities procurement and people management, with at least 10 years in leading F&D commodity management and some 10 years of people management experience. You have excellent negotiation and communication skills and can build and maintain relationships. You bring an entrepreneurial and continuous improvement mindset. This role plays a key role in our global Procurement function with great development opportunities and career growth. The ideal candidate should be open-minded and ready to take on new challenges.

  • Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Logistics, Engineering, or Business (or equivalent experience).
  • Extensive experience in freight, logistics, warehousing and distribution procurement, preferably in a global, matrix organization and driving TCO.
  • Proven track record in commodity strategy, large‑scale negotiations, and supplier performance management.
  • Strong understanding of logistics markets, cost drivers, and transportation networks.
  • Experience in leading global or regional teams and influencing senior stakeholders
