Job description

It’s no wonder we can go further, faster together.

We’re a team of 450+ professionals from 50+ nationalities, all commercially driven, entrepreneurial and ready to turn potential into progress. Not just for us, but for the world too.

At STX, we’re focused on so much more than making money. We’re here to make a profit with a purpose. Because for us, nothing’s more important than being able to trade in environmental commodities and create the most effective decarbonization strategies for our clients. Join us and together we can change the world – one trade at a time.

Your success story starts here…

ABOUT THE TEAM And Role You are joining at a defining turning point where we are evolving from a market leading business into a high-scale, self-serve, AI-powered platform.

As part of our Engineering team, you’ll navigate two core areas: the Digital Platforms (Climate Tech and Originate) , which power all counterparty-facing touchpoints, and the Trading and Core Operating Platforms , which supports the full trade lifecycle from pre-trade through execution to final cash realization.

Your goal is to use Agentic AI to help us achieve faster product launches and digitally-led growth without operational debt , significantly fewer manual workarounds , and build absolute trust in data across Trading, Ops, Finance, and Risk. Your work will ensure sustainability markets run efficiently, providing the structural reliability needed to drive real-world environmental progress.

Tech Stack : AI Spec first, Typescript, React.js/Vue.js, Python, Node.js, AWS Serverless, AWS CDK, AWS Kinesis/Kafka, and Kubernetes. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Architect and design core systems: you'll be hands-on during implementation, helping service teams bootstrap maintainable, scalable systems, and guiding them through technical decisions and trade-offs.
  • Modernize and innovate: you'll navigate the transition from legacy trade-lifecycle systems to cutting-edge distributed, event-driven architectures, integrating practical AI and emerging tech.
  • Turn ambiguity into clarity: you'll work across teams to translate complex climate challenges into thoughtful, well-architected solutions.
  • Elevate the engineering quality bar: you'll mentor other team members, upgrading the collective "brain power" of the entire organization.
  • Champion platform thinking: you’ll drive a "build once, use everywhere" culture, replacing short-term fixes with long-term architectural excellence. By designing shared, reusable services for the trade lifecycle, you’ll ensure every solution reduces future complexity rather than adds to it.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • 10+ years in software development within product-led companies.
  • You work comfortably across the stack — including Infrastructure-as-Code and serverless architectures, and frontend.
  • Typescript, Python, Node.js, AWS, CDK/Terraform, Kinesis/Kafka, and Kubernetes.
  • You have experience in architectural leadership, defining standards, and mentoring teams members.
  • You are a strong systems-thinker, ambitious and self-driven, with a natural hunger for "hairy" problems that others might avoid.
  • You enjoy the challenge of untangling complex legacy logic while simultaneously architecting the future of green tech.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • Competitive remuneration package
  • Pension scheme contributions
  • Strong focus on personal and professional development
  • Sport and training opportunities

DIVERSITY STATEMENT We encourage and welcome applications from candidates of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives to enhance our team and contribute to a more inclusive work environment. Diversity, inclusion, and belonging are more than just concepts. They are part of our everyday work culture, ensuring employees feel welcomed and build meaningful connections.
