Job description

Your Job As a Buyer, you are responsible for executing purchases—be it components or raw materials. You'll collaborate with the Global Procurement team to establish and maintain supplier relationships, ensuring the timely acquisition of necessary parts and materials. This involves coordinating with Quality Assurance to address supplier quality issues, effectively managing inventory levels to prevent production delays, and continuously monitoring supplier performance.

What You Will Do

  • Analyze Purchase Requisitions, utilizing forecasts and historical data, seeking clarification on any ambiguities from the Planner, and suggesting viable alternatives.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to schedule deliveries in alignment with production orders, partnering with planners to guarantee timely factory supply.
  • Issue Purchase Orders after confirming supplier capabilities, product specifications, and price accuracy; secure authorization for deviations in price or product specifications when necessary.
  • Assist the Global Procurement Team with supplier price negotiations.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance staff to address any concerns regarding deliveries or product quality and manage the return and replacement of unacceptable parts (RGA).
  • Assess supplier performance, contributing to the Supplier Score Card with your feedback.
  • Control inventory by synchronizing forecast data with planners, adjusting safety stock levels, applying Just-In-Time (JIT) restocking methods, and determining the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ).
  • Negotiate supplier cancellation requests based on SAP exceptional reports to reduce liabilities and prevent surplus stock occurrences.
  • Pinpoint cost-saving opportunities and communicate these to the Procurement Team for further negotiation with suppliers.
  • Adhere to the Molex Procurement Policy and EHS protocols.
  • In the event of a supply shortage, assume full responsibility for allocating resources between subcontractors & Molex to optimize company benefits.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Possess a GCE ‘A’ level, Diploma, or higher.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated organizational and communication prowess.
  • Ability to independently resolve issues and drive performance metrics.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • An understanding of logistics terms and economic principles.

  • In-depth knowledge of purchasing processes.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment with expertise in purchasing and procurement.
  • Familiarity with SAP and supplier management systems.
