Mechanical Engineer

Position Title**: Mechanical Engineer**

Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Job Summary

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and monitoring all mechanical works related to the construction of high-rise building projects, ensuring compliance with project specifications, approved drawings, quality standards, safety regulations, and project schedules. The role includes managing HVAC, plumbing, drainage, firefighting, LPG, and other mechanical systems throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Technical & Construction Management

• Supervise and monitor all mechanical installation works on site.
• Review and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Ensure all mechanical works are executed in accordance with approved shop drawings and project requirements.
• Coordinate mechanical activities with structural, architectural, electrical, and other disciplines.
• Conduct site inspections to verify work quality and compliance with project specifications.
• Monitor subcontractors' performance and ensure timely completion of works.
• Assist in resolving technical issues and engineering challenges during construction.

Planning & Coordination

• Prepare and monitor mechanical work schedules and progress reports.
• Coordinate with consultants, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers regarding mechanical works.
• Attend project coordination and progress meetings.
• Review material submittals, shop drawings, method statements, and technical submissions.
• Ensure procurement of mechanical materials and equipment aligns with project schedules.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with project quality plans and applicable standards.
• Conduct inspections and testing of mechanical installations.
• Coordinate testing and commissioning activities for HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, and other systems.
• Ensure compliance with Dubai Municipality, Dubai Civil Defense, DEWA, and relevant authority requirements.
• Participate in snagging, de-snagging, and project handover activities.

Health, Safety & Environment

• Ensure all mechanical works are performed in accordance with company HSE policies.
• Conduct regular site safety inspections related to mechanical activities.
• Coordinate with safety personnel to identify and mitigate risks.
• Ensure proper implementation of approved method statements and risk assessments.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain records of inspections, testing, progress reports, and site activities.
• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports.
• Review and verify subcontractor invoices and work completion certificates.
• Assist in preparation of as-built drawings and operation & maintenance manuals.
• Maintain project documentation and correspondence related to mechanical works.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional Engineering certification is an advantage.
• Membership in relevant engineering institutions is preferred.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 5–10 years of experience in mechanical engineering within the construction industry.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in high-rise building projects in the UAE/GCC.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, Drainage, Firefighting, and Mechanical Building Services systems.
• Experience dealing with consultants and local authorities in Dubai.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.
• Knowledge of BIM/Revit is an advantage.
• Familiarity with local authority regulations and approval processes.
• Understanding of testing and commissioning procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
