Within our Engineering department, high-end data processing applications are automatically tested using simulators to ensure seamless integration at the system level.

Within Engineering Operations, we as Craftsmanship (pillar) support our Engineers within Thales with processes and (best) practices. We empower engineers from all engineering disciplines to focus on their core tasks. We do this by helping to onboard new projects, supporting them with test hardware and virtualization, host an on-site data center hardware and help with questions that are related to their test systems.

About the job

As a Devops Software Engineer, you are involved in supporting the engineering teams with installing, configuring and maintaining the specific development- and test systems. Also you are responsible to troubleshoot and create a solution if applicable. There are plenty opportunities to learn new techniques and disciplines.

Key tasks include:

• Identify and analyse technical problems and find the correct solution.
• Install and configure hardware (servers, switches) in a professional production environment.
• Design solutions and create planning based on the requirement of the engineers.
• Properly document the work that has been carried out, to be used by other teams.
• Answer solution-specific questions from the engineering teams.
• Attend team-meetings and report to the management.
• Working in a process-oriented manner.

About you

We are looking for someone with a completed Bachelor or Master degree in a technical field, preferably IT Service Management, Computer Science or similar.

As a Devops Software Engineer, you have experience with:

• Linux operating systems (Red Hat Enterprise Linux).
• Network technology and configuration.
• Hardware virtualization (Linux KVM).
• Installation and configuration of computers using techniques like Ansible.
• Basic knowledge of Java, C++ or Python.
• Experience with Jira and Confluence is a pré.
• Experience with GITLAB or similar version control tools is a pré.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
• Analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in English and as a pré in Dutch, both spoken and written.
