Job description

About SiTime SiTime is the Precision Timing company.

Timing is the heartbeat of all electronics, ensuring performance, resilience and scalability. For decades, quartz devices, non-silicon technology, have kept systems in sync, but they struggle in harsher, more demanding environments. MEMS-based Precision Timing delivers greater accuracy, smaller size and resilience. Today, MEMS timing powers over 400 applications, including high-growth ones in AI datacenters, automated driving, industrial and humanoid robots, wearables and IoT.

Our semiconductor MEMS programmable solutions offer a rich feature set that enables customers to differentiate their products with higher performance, smaller size, lower power, and better reliability. With more than 4 billion devices shipped, SiTime is changing the timing industry. For more information, visit: www.sitime.com .

Job Summary The Post-Silicon Validation Engineer I will contribute to the validation, characterization, and productization of SiTime's MEMS-based precision timing products. Working closely with experienced engineers, this role will support post-silicon validation activities, automated test development, data analysis, and failure analysis across a variety of timing products.

This position provides an opportunity to develop expertise in mixed-signal systems, precision timing technologies, automated measurement systems, and semiconductor product development while collaborating with cross-functional teams including MEMS, circuit design, product engineering, and operations.

It is not necessary to meet all job requirements to be a qualified candidate for the position.

Responsibilities:

  • Support validation, characterization, and release-to-production activities for MEMS-based timing products.
  • Execute validation and characterization plans and document results through technical reports and presentations.
  • Work with MEMS, circuit design, and Systems engineering teams to evaluate new silicon at the system and building-block level.
  • Develop and execute experiments to evaluate product performance and investigate new technologies and concepts.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated measurement and data-analysis tools.
  • Design, develop, and validate PCB test platforms, firmware, and laboratory setups to enable automated data acquisition and analysis.
  • Analyze characterization data using statistical methods to identify trends, anomalies, and product performance metrics.
  • Support development and transfer of algorithms into test and production environments.
  • Perform debugging and engineering failure analysis to support root-cause investigations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve product performance, test methodologies, and engineering processes.
  • Continuously improve technical knowledge in semiconductor validation, timing technologies, measurement techniques, and automation frameworks.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 0-2 years of experience in semiconductor validation, characterization, product engineering, or related fields.
  • Fundamental knowledge of analog and mixed-signal circuits.
  • Basic understanding of semiconductor devices and laboratory measurement techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with electronic laboratory instrumentation and measurement setups.
  • Programming experience using Python, MATLAB, C, C++, or similar languages.
  • Familiarity with data analysis, statistics, and data visualization techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Academic or internship experience with semiconductor, MEMS, sensor, analog, or mixed-signal products.
  • Experience with test automation, laboratory software development, or data-analysis tools.
  • Experience with PCB design, firmware development, or embedded systems.
  • Exposure to precision timing, oscillators, clocks, MEMS devices, or related technologies.
  • Experience using MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW, or similar engineering tools.

Desired Characteristics & Attributes

  • High level of self-motivation and enthusiasm for learning.
  • Strong curiosity and desire to understand complex technical systems.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to engineering quality.
  • Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with precision timing, oscillators, clocks, resonators, MEMS devices, or frequency-control products.
  • Knowledge of phase noise, jitter, Allan deviation, frequency stability, and precision timing measurement techniques.
  • Experience transferring characterization methodologies, screening algorithms, and test limits into high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Experience designing PCB-based validation platforms, embedded firmware, and automated test infrastructure.
  • Experience influencing product architecture, technology roadmaps, engineering capabilities, and long-term organizational growth initiatives.
