AI Innovation Engineer | Utrecht | €90K (Hybrid/SaaS).

We are looking for an experienced Backend Engineer with a strong interest in AI to help shape the future of a proven SaaS platform in the real estate sector. The company develops an innovative SaaS solution used daily by hundreds of customers in the private and public sector. The product is well established, but AI is opening up new possibilities for automation and how users interact with the platform.

The role:

Your challenge will be to figure out what we can actually do with AI and turn those ideas into working solutions. You will build and experiment with AI agents that can understand what a user wants, work with the existing backend and databases, and take action on their behalf.

A key part of this will be permissions and customer environments. An agent needs to understand not only what is technically possible, but also what a specific user is allowed to do. Think about replacing manual workflows with an AI agent that can understand a request and execute the right steps. The goal is to find opportunities where AI can simply take work off people's hands.

This is a new area for the company, so you will have plenty of room to experiment. We are looking for someone who is willing to push boundaries, test ideas and ask: why are we still doing this manually if AI can do it?

Requirements:

We are looking for a Backend Engineer with 4+ years of experience, a solid understanding of backend development and databases, and a genuine interest in AI. You don't need years of AI experience. What matters is that you understand how software works and are excited to explore how agents can be built and integrated into a real product.

You will work closely with the engineering team to experiment, build prototypes and turn successful ideas into reliable features. Most importantly, you are curious, pragmatic and not afraid to try something new.
