Job description
As an Adjunct Lecturer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning across a range of modules, contributing to an engaging and supportive academic environment. The role encompasses tutoring, lecturing, student support, and some academic administration, ensuring a quality educational experience for all students.
You will play a key role in actively engaging students in the learning process, using effective pedagogical approaches to maximise student participation, development, and achievement. A strong commitment to fostering positive student outcomes and an inclusive learning environment is essential.
In addition, you may be required to contribute to the design, development, and enhancement of module content and curriculum delivery. You will also support and participate in quality assurance and enhancement processes relevant to the programme(s), ensuring that academic standards are consistently maintained and aligned with institutional and regulatory requirements.
What We Expect from You ?
- Plan and deliver teaching sessions as required.
- Design authentic assessments and assess and moderate student work in line with the programme and module specification.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
- Provide academic support and guidance to students.
- Develop, update, and continuously improve course materials.
- Keep up to date with best practice in learning and teaching and ensure that your teaching reflects best practice and embeds technologies that enhance the learning experience.
- Contribute to the design, development, delivery, review and enhancement of programmes of study across GBS Germany.
- Develop productive working relationships with colleagues within and external to GBS Germany.
- Participate in internal and external events, such as programme reviews, open days, outreach activities, and partner visits.
- Undertake a reflective programme of staff development which includes teaching observations, directed study, workshop participation and experiential learning.
- Engage with the GBS Germany’s performance management programme, meeting a range of clearly defined objectives for student attendance, continuation, completion, progression and satisfaction.
What Experience will You Bring to the Role?
- Ability to teach and assess in the English language to students with English as an additional language, and to communicate effectively with colleagues.
- A Doctoral level qualification in a relevant academic field of study
- Demonstrable experience of teaching at the level of final year undergraduate or preferably masters programmes.
- Experience of, and a passion for, working in widening access and international student environments.
- Excellent IT skills and competent using Microsoft Office suite, including PowerPoint and Excel
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience of supervising student work and providing support and feedback, including final year or masters level dissertations.
- Demonstrable professional conduct in all interactions with staff and students.
- Ability to maintain thorough and organised student records.
Ideally
- A demonstrable track record in research or other scholarly activity and/or demonstrable success at an equivalent level professionally.
- Industry experience in a relevant field.
- Teaching qualification: e.g. PGCert, PGCHE, MA in HE Practice or FHEA etc or willingness to gain a teaching qualification.
