Job description
As Discipline Expert Hardware, you are responsible for technical excellence and the continued development of the hardware discipline within Electric Vehicle Charging (EVC). You combine in-depth technical expertise with the development and leadership of a team of approximately eight hardware engineers.
At EVC, the hardware we develop sits at the heart of our products. Our hardware development does not stop at the prototype stage. Our charging solutions are developed and tested in-house at Alfen and manufactured in series at our own production facility. EVC also has its own specialist test facilities, including an anechoic chamber for EMC testing. For additional expertise and certification, we work closely with external testing and knowledge partners.
You safeguard technical quality, develop standards and capabilities, and contribute directly to complex hardware challenges and technical decisions. Working across different teams and projects, you use your expertise to influence the technical direction of EVC.
What will you do?
As Discipline Expert Hardware, you are responsible for technical excellence within the hardware discipline. You ensure that knowledge, standards, ways of working and capabilities are aligned with EVC’s technical ambitions and roadmap.
You remain actively involved in the technical content. When complex hardware challenges or critical technical decisions arise, you provide expertise, challenge proposed solutions and support teams in making well-founded decisions.
You also lead a team of approximately eight hardware engineers. You are responsible for their technical and professional development, performance and the continued development of knowledge within the discipline. Furthermore, you are the owner of our EMC testing capabilities and our SMD line for prototype assembly.
In addition, you will:
- safeguard and further develop engineering standards, methods and technical expertise;
- develop knowledge and capabilities within the team;
- align capacity and expertise with the EVC roadmap;
- represent the hardware discipline within R&D and towards external knowledge and testing partners.
You are part of the Platform Team and work closely with Technical Product Managers, the Technology Manager and other R&D disciplines. As a technical expert, you also contribute to discussions within the R&D Management Team on technology developments and the capabilities EVC needs to deliver on its ambitions.
In this role, you report to the Technology Manager.
What do you bring?
You are an experienced hardware professional who combines technical seniority with the ability to develop and strengthen others.
In addition, you have:
- a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Embedded Systems or a related technical field, combined with at least 10 years of experience in hardware development;
- in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in hardware development;
- experience in multidisciplinary product development within a matrix and project-based environment;
- experience developing products from initial design and prototype through to series production;
- experience in a regulated technical environment where quality, safety, reliability and compliance are integral to product development;
- experience in, or a clear affinity with, coaching and developing engineers;
- professional proficiency in both Dutch and English.
What do we offer?
In addition to a technically broad position with significant influence on the hardware discipline and the development of our engineers, we offer:
- a gross monthly salary between €6.500,- and €8.500,- based on full-time employment, depending on your experience;
- 27 days of annual leave and 13 additional ADV days, with the option to sell 10 days;
- hybrid working, with the option to work remotely for up to two days per week based on a 40-hour working week;
