GAF Geospatial GmbH (GAF), an e-GEOS S.p.A. (Telespazio S.p.A./ASI) company, is a globally active provider of cross-platform geoinformation solutions and innovative Earth Observation applications. To strengthen and support our team at our headquarters in Munich, we are looking for a motivated
Junior Project Manager in the field of Software Development and Operations
Our team manages complex, multifunctional projects by developing new and leveraging from existing GAF software solutions. In this role, you will be part of the management team of a large collaborative project focused on the development, maintenance, and operation of an automated multi source satellite data provisioning system in the Earth Observation domain.
Your tasks:
Project Coordination: Support the coordination of an interdisciplinary team of thematic experts and international project partners from various domains (software development, cloud administration, remote sensing, user support, etc.) in line with the project work plan, schedule, quality standards, and budget
Service & Incident Management: Support service performance and incident management to ensure compliance with defined KPIs
Process & Workflow Improvement: Assist in improving operational procedures and software lifecycle processes (DevOps, CI), focusing on efficiency, stability, and security
Reporting & Client Interaction: Support regular communication with the client through technical and formal project meetings, and contribute to project documentation such as minutes, progress reports, and technical deliverables
Your profile:
University degree in Geoinformatics, Computer Science, Software Development, Earth Observation/Geoinformation or a related field
Minimum 3 years of professional experience in managing software development projects and operational service environments
Strong project management skills, particularly in risk management, stakeholder management and reporting
Proven ability to work effectively with international project teams and clients, demonstrating trust building and clear communication
Proficiency in software development methodologies and modern cloud architecture solutions
Fluency in English and German (written and spoken, C1 level according to CEFR)
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong analytical skills and solution-oriented mindset
Self motivated and independent working style combined with strong collaboration skills
Desirable knowledge:
Familiarity with modern DevOps principles, CI/CD workflows, automation
Knowledge of Earth Observation concepts, public and commercial satellite missions, data formats and providers
Experience with ESA/EC/Copernicus projects and institutions
