Job description

Job Purpose The Lead Coach Trap is responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all sport-related activities within the Trap discipline. This includes developing and overseeing annual training plans, structured into specific macrocycles and mesocycles, and ensuring alignment with national and international competition schedules for all SOTC-funded Trap athletes.

The Lead Coach Trap is also responsible for organizing and delivering the highest level of weekly routine training sessions and specific training camps for elite and development Team Saudi Trap athletes of both genders. Together with stakeholders and other SOTC workforce, the role’s major goal is to develop a sustainable long-term high-performance pathway for the Trap discipline for Team Saudi.

Strategic Leadership for Trap Discipline

  • Develop and implement the annual and multi-year performance plans for the Trap discipline.
  • Establish and maintain a consistent coaching philosophy, training methodology and technical standards for the Trap program.
  • Lead technical planning for international competitions, training camps and preparation cycles.
  • Monitor international trends, ISSF rule changes and best practices relevant to the Trap discipline.

Training & Competition

  • Lead the day-to-day technical coaching process for the Trap discipline under the direction of the Head Coach Shotgun (Trap & Skeet).
  • Coordinate the work of Specialist Coaches and performance-support staff assigned to high-performance Trap athletes.
  • Provide discipline-specific technical guidance to the coach responsible for beginner athletes and support the transition of identified Trap athletes from the beginner/development stage into the high-performance pathway.
  • Lead technical preparation of Trap athletes for major international events, including World Cups, World Championships, Asian Championships, Asian Games and Olympic qualification events.
  • Plan, organize and supervise national team Trap training camps and the weekly training process.
  • Provide technical reports following competitions and camps.
  • Ensure appropriate competition schedules are developed for Trap athletes of both genders at different performance levels.

Athlete Support & Engagement

  • Oversee the preparation and performance of national team Trap athletes.
  • Develop and coordinate individual performance plans for elite and development Trap athletes.
  • Provide technical athlete selection recommendations in accordance with federation policies and approved performance criteria.
  • Monitor athlete progress through regular performance reviews, training data and competition analysis.
  • Ensure effective transition of Trap athletes from development to elite levels.
  • Ensure specific development opportunities and appropriate support for female Trap athletes.

Learning & Development

  • Actively participate in SOTC-learning & development programs.
  • Actively participate in development and technical meetings called by the Head Coach Shotgun (Trap & Skeet) and/or the SOTC-High-Performance Director Shooting.
  • Maintain a continuous learning approach to the specific cultural and performance requirements of working with emerging and elite Team Saudi athletes of both genders.

Coordination & Teamwork

  • Work closely in a highly collaborative manner with the Head Coach Shotgun (Trap & Skeet), SOTC-High-Performance Director Shooting, the Lead Coach Skeet, the coach responsible for beginner athletes, SOTC leadership roles engaged in shooting, and SOTC service experts such as S&C coaches, sports medicine and sports physiotherapy experts, nutrition and sports psychology experts, and athlete wellbeing experts.
  • Implement the overall shotgun coaching philosophy, technical standards and performance direction established by the Head Coach Shotgun (Trap & Skeet), while leading discipline-specific delivery within the assigned discipline.
  • Collaborate with the named team members and other stakeholders to ensure consistency and organization across the Team Saudi high-performance program.
  • Escalate any operational or safety concerns to the SOTC higher leadership structures (for example High-Performance Director Shooting, Senior High-Performance Director Multi-Sports-Cluster, Director athlete’s wellbeing).

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow SOPC safety guidelines, coaching standards, and ethical practices at all times.
  • Ensure training & competition areas are safe, organized, and suitable for participant use.
  • Support adherence to all SOPC policies and procedures during weekly routine training activities, national and international training camps and national and international competitions.
