Construction Manager – E&I (Electrical & Instrumentation)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager – E&I (Electrical & Instrumentation) to lead and manage site construction activities for electrical and instrumentation works. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) construction activities at site.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise E&I construction works from mobilization through completion and handover.
  • Manage construction teams, subcontractors, supervisors, technicians, and site personnel.
  • Coordinate closely with Engineering, Procurement, Project Management, QA/QC, HSE, and Commissioning teams.
  • Review and implement approved drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, and project procedures.
  • Monitor daily progress and ensure construction activities meet project schedules and milestones.
  • Coordinate installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Ensure proper execution of cable laying, cable termination, equipment installation, earthing, lighting, power distribution, instrumentation, control systems, and related E&I works.
  • Identify construction issues, technical constraints, and site interfaces and coordinate timely resolutions.
  • Ensure materials, manpower, tools, and equipment are available as required to maintain construction progress.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure compliance with contractual and technical requirements.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and progress meetings.
  • Ensure all E&I works comply with approved drawings, project specifications, applicable codes, standards, and HSE requirements.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC to ensure inspections, testing, documentation, and punch-list clearance are completed on time.
  • Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, testing, and project handover activities.
  • Prepare and review daily, weekly, and monthly construction progress reports.
  • Monitor productivity and take corrective actions where required.
  • Maintain effective communication with the client, consultants, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Ensure proper completion of as-built documentation and construction records.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant E&I construction experience, preferably in EPC, oil & gas, petrochemical, industrial, infrastructure, or energy projects.
  • Proven experience in a Construction Manager / E&I Construction Manager role on site.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and instrumentation installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Good understanding of construction planning, scheduling, resource management, and site coordination.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary construction teams.
  • Strong knowledge of HSE requirements and construction quality standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, method statements, and technical documents.
  • Strong leadership, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and relevant construction/project management systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in large-scale EPC / Oil & Gas / Petrochemical / Energy projects.
  • Experience working with international clients and consultants.
  • Relevant professional certifications will be an advantage.
  • Experience with project planning and progress monitoring tools such as Primavera P6 is preferred.
  • Previous site-based experience in the GCC is an advantage.
