📊 We’re Hiring: Actuarial Analyst | Underwriting Assistant

We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Actuarial Analyst | Underwriting Assistant to support actuarial analysis, risk assessment, underwriting activities, and insurance portfolio management. The ideal candidate will work closely with actuarial, underwriting, claims, and business teams to evaluate risks, analyze data, and support sound insurance decisions.
🎯 Key Responsibilities
• Analyze insurance data to support actuarial and underwriting decisions.
• Assist with risk assessment and evaluation of new and existing insurance business.
• Review policy applications, customer information, claims history, and supporting documentation.
• Assist underwriters in evaluating risk characteristics, coverage requirements, and policy conditions.
• Collect, clean, validate, and organize data from internal and external sources.
• Perform statistical and financial analysis to identify trends, patterns, and risk factors.
• Support pricing analysis, rate reviews, and profitability assessments.
• Prepare actuarial models, spreadsheets, reports, and analytical summaries.
• Assist with loss ratio, claim frequency, severity, and portfolio performance analysis.
• Monitor underwriting results and identify unusual changes or emerging risk trends.
• Conduct research on market conditions, industry developments, competitors, and insurance products.
• Support the preparation of underwriting recommendations and risk assessments.
• Review policy documentation to ensure information is complete and accurate.
• Assist in determining appropriate coverage terms, limits, deductibles, and risk classifications.
• Coordinate with underwriters to obtain missing information and clarify application details.
• Assist with policy renewals by reviewing historical performance, claims experience, and updated risk information.
• Maintain accurate records of underwriting decisions, actuarial analyses, policy information, and supporting documents.
• Prepare regular reports and dashboards for actuarial, underwriting, and management teams.
• Assist in monitoring portfolio exposure, concentration risk, and overall book performance.
• Support data validation and quality-control processes to ensure analytical accuracy.
• Assist with forecasting, financial projections, and scenario analysis.
• Contribute to process improvements and automation of actuarial or underwriting workflows.
• Ensure work complies with internal policies, underwriting guidelines, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with claims, finance, risk management, product, and operations teams.
• Provide analytical support for new product development and portfolio optimization projects.
✅ Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Insurance, or a related discipline.
• Previous experience in actuarial analysis, underwriting support, insurance operations, risk analysis, or a related field is preferred.
• Strong mathematical, statistical, and analytical abilities.
• Good understanding of insurance principles, risk assessment, and underwriting processes.
• Familiarity with actuarial concepts, insurance pricing, claims analysis, and portfolio performance.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies in data and documentation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, and reporting.
• Experience with statistical or analytical tools such as SQL, R, Python, SAS, or similar platforms is an advantage.
• Strong numerical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to analyze large datasets and translate findings into meaningful business insights.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prepare clear analytical reports and presentations.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure.
• Strong teamwork and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• High level of integrity when handling confidential customer, policy, and financial information.
• Willingness to learn actuarial methodologies, underwriting practices, and insurance regulations.
• Progress toward professional actuarial examinations is an advantage.
• Insurance-related certifications or qualifications are a plus.
• Previous experience with insurance systems, underwriting platforms, or actuarial software is advantageous.
