We are supporting a leading Swiss research & technology organisation looking for a Power Electronics Converter Design Engineer to join an advanced R&D team in Zurich.

This is a hands-on opportunity to develop next-generation power conversion technology , working from concept and design through to real hardware, testing and characterisation.

🚀 Your Role

⚡ Design and develop power electronic converters

🔧 Optimise, implement and characterise converter systems

🧪 Build, test and validate hardware in a laboratory environment

🔌 Support integration into complex engineering systems

📊 Analyse performance, troubleshoot and optimise prototypes

🤝 Work alongside engineers and scientists in an interdisciplinary R&D environment

🎯 Your Profile

The key requirement is hands-on experience designing power electronic converters .

✅ PhD, MSc or BSc in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics or similar

✅ For BSc/MSc candidates, relevant professional converter-design experience

✅ Experience in the design, optimisation, implementation and characterisation of power electronic converters

✅ Strong knowledge of converter topologies and power electronics hardware

✅ Experience taking designs from concept/simulation into physical hardware

✅ Professional English – German is a plus

⭐ Highly Desirable – Not Essential

Experience with any of the following would be particularly interesting:

🔹 High-current / multiphase DC-DC converters

🔹 Cryogenic systems or cryogenic electronics

🔹 Radiation-hardened electronics

🔹 Advanced industrial or scientific power electronics

No cryogenics experience? No problem. Candidates from different industries are welcome – strong power electronics converter design experience is what matters most.
