Job description

HSE Specialist – Germany

Location: Germany multiple sites

The Role

We are currently looking for an experienced HSE Specialist to join a major long-term project in Germany. This is an excellent opportunity for an HSE professional with strong site-based experience who can take ownership of health, safety and environmental standards across a large-scale construction or energy project.

You will work closely with the Site Management and Project Management teams to ensure all HSE requirements are implemented, monitored and continuously improved throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain HSE procedures and standards across the site.
  • Carry out regular site inspections, audits and risk assessments.
  • Monitor compliance with German and European HSE legislation and project requirements.
  • Support the development and review of RAMS, method statements and permits.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions, implementing appropriate corrective actions.
  • Deliver toolbox talks, HSE briefings and safety inductions.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across site personnel and subcontractors.
  • Work closely with contractors and site management to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Maintain accurate HSE documentation, records and reporting.
  • Support emergency preparedness and response procedures.
  • Provide HSE guidance and advice to site teams throughout construction and installation activities.

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience working as an HSE Specialist, HSE Advisor, HSE Engineer or similar.
  • Strong site-based experience within construction, energy, infrastructure, power or industrial projects.
  • Good knowledge of HSE legislation, risk assessment and incident investigation.
  • Experience working with contractors and subcontractors on major projects.
  • Relevant HSE qualification such as NEBOSH, IOSH, SCC/SGU or equivalent.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and confidently within a busy construction environment.
  • German language skills are highly desirable, with English required.
  • Previous experience working in Germany or within European projects is advantageous.
