About the Role

This role teaches and develops curriculum for Applied Mathematics and Physics. The faculty member supports OBE, ABET, and CAA accreditation, conducts computational modelling research, and mentors’ students through labs, capstones, and academic advising.

Responsibilities

Teaching & Instruction

  • Teach:

  • Applied Mathematics

  • Physics for Naval Applications

  • Prepare course specs, CLO mapping, assessments, rubrics.

  • Develop simulation-supported instruction using MATLAB, Python, and naval datasets.

  • Maintain lab materials and e-learning content.

  • Research & Modelling

  • Conduct research in:

  • Oceanographic predictive modelling

  • Hydrodynamics and ship–ocean interactions

  • Optimization and vessel routing models

  • Maritime sensor physics

  • Publish in Scopus-indexed outlets.

  • Supervise research- and modelling-based capstones.

  • Accreditation & Curriculum

  • Support ABET/CAA evidence, SSR writing, and KPI monitoring.

  • Contribute to curriculum review, benchmarking, and OBE compliance.

  • Service & Collaboration

  • Academic advising and mentoring.

  • Participation in committees and interdisciplinary marine/engineering teams.

  • Support student competitions involving modelling/physics challenges.

Qualifications

  • Required

  • PhD in Applied Mathematics, Physics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Naval Engineering, Marine Engineering, or related.

  • University-level teaching experience.

  • Experience with MATLAB/Python and computational modelling.

  • Preferred

  • Naval or maritime operational background.

  • Research in hydrodynamics, sensor physics, ocean/environmental modelling.

  • Scopus-indexed publication record.
