The Opportunity

We're looking for a Senior React Native Engineer to help scale and evolve a highly interactive mobile application used for team collaboration and communication.

This role goes beyond traditional mobile development. You'll work on performance-critical features, real-time collaboration experiences, secure communications, and native mobile integrations while helping shape the future of the company's mobile platform.

Responsibilities

Mobile Development

• Develop and maintain React Native applications for iOS and Android
• Deliver high-quality user experiences across mobile devices
• Contribute to technical architecture and engineering best practices
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver new features

Mobile Performance

• Optimise application performance and responsiveness
• Build smooth, highly interactive user experiences
• Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks
• Improve application stability and reliability

Real-Time Collaboration Features

• Develop features supporting real-time user interactions
• Contribute to collaboration and communication functionality
• Help build scalable mobile experiences for growing user bases

Native Mobile Integration

• Work closely with iOS and Android platform capabilities
• Implement and maintain native integrations where required
• Understand how React Native interacts with native mobile layers
• Collaborate on architecture decisions affecting platform performance and scalability

Security & Reliability

• Support the development of secure communication features
• Work with systems that utilize end-to-end encryption
• Contribute to reliability, scalability, and platform resilience initiatives

Required Skills

Essential

• Strong commercial React Native experience
• Hands-on experience with Expo
• Advanced TypeScript development skills
• Experience delivering production mobile applications
• Strong understanding of mobile application architecture
• Performance optimisation experience
• Experience working with complex front-end systems

Preferred

• Experience with real-time messaging or collaboration products
• Understanding of native iOS and Android platforms
• Knowledge of threading, native modules, or mobile performance profiling
• Experience working on security-conscious products
• Background in productivity, communication, SaaS, or collaboration platforms

Ideal Candidate

You are a senior mobile engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and understands how to build performant mobile applications at scale.

You'll likely have experience working on:
