Commissioning Engineer – Generator & Emergency Power Systems

Permanent or Interim | IJmuiden | International Projects | Full-time

When emergency power is needed, it has to work. No exceptions.

For complex generator and emergency power systems, OCRE Offshore Services is looking for an experienced Commissioning Engineer with a strong electrical background and hands-on commissioning experience.

You will be responsible for testing, commissioning and technically delivering complete emergency power installations. This is a practical engineering role: you work directly on the systems, analyse faults, verify electrical connections and settings, troubleshoot generator control systems and make sure the installation performs as intended.

Approximately 70% of your work will take place on international project locations .

What will you do?

  • Commission and test complete generator and emergency power systems;
  • read and interpret electrical schematics;
  • make and verify electrical connections;
  • diagnose and resolve electrical faults;
  • configure, test and troubleshoot generator control systems;
  • perform functional and performance tests;
  • identify technical issues and solve them on site;
  • work closely with engineering, project management and customers;
  • act as the technical point of contact during commissioning.

What are we looking for?

You have a strong practical background in electrical engineering and at least 3 years of relevant experience as a:

  • Commissioning Engineer;
  • Field Service Engineer;
  • Electrical Service Engineer;
  • or experienced Troubleshooting Engineer.

In addition, you have:

  • strong knowledge of electrical systems and components;
  • experience with electrical fault finding;
  • experience reading and analysing electrical schematics;
  • hands-on experience with electrical connections;
  • experience with generator control systems .

Experience with at least one of the following systems is required:

DEIF | ComAp | Deep Sea Electronics (DSE)

Experience with diesel engines and diesel generator systems is a strong advantage.

You also:

  • speak and write English fluently;
  • are willing to travel internationally for approximately 70% of your working time ;
  • preferably live within approximately 1.5 hours of IJmuiden ;
  • have relevant work experience in the Netherlands and are familiar with Dutch and European standards and working practices;
  • communicate professionally with customers and project stakeholders.

This is a hands-on commissioning role

We are not looking for someone whose experience is mainly focused on:

  • PLC programming only;
  • SCADA or monitoring systems;
  • Siemens, Schneider or ABB automation environments without genset experience;
  • project coordination without substantial hands-on commissioning experience.

We are specifically looking for engineers who understand generator systems, electrical commissioning and troubleshooting and who enjoy solving technical problems on site.

What is offered?

For permanent employment/for freelance different rates ofcourse:

  • gross monthly salary of approximately €4,100 – €6100 , depending on experience;
  • full-time employment of ca 40 hours per week ;
  • 8% holiday allowance;
  • 30 days of annual leave;
  • collective year-end payment;

  • company vehicle for business use;
  • travel time to project locations is considered working time;
  • attractive overtime compensation;
  • additional compensation for weekend, night and public holiday work;
  • allowances for overnight stays and international assignments;
  • employment conditions according to the Dutch Metal & Engineering – Technical Installation Industry collective agreement .
