Senior Electrical Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to provide electrical engineering expertise across medium- and high-voltage projects within the energy sector.

In this role, you will be responsible for the design, calculation, and development of secondary electrical installations, with a particular focus on protection, control, and substation automation systems. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary project team on new-build, expansion, and renovation projects, supporting activities from technical design through to site execution.

You will also act as a technical point of contact within projects, working closely with engineers, project teams, and clients while supporting and coaching less experienced engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and engineer secondary installations for medium- and high-voltage systems
• Develop electrical schematics, control diagrams, wiring diagrams, and other technical drawings
• Perform electrical calculations, including cable calculations and other engineering assessments
• Engineer protection, control, and substation automation systems for MV/HV installations
• Develop technical solutions for new-build, expansion, and renovation projects
• Review technical drawings, calculations, specifications, and other engineering documentation
• Carry out site surveys and assess existing electrical installations
• Discuss technical findings, requirements, and engineering solutions with clients and project team members
• Coordinate engineering activities with other disciplines throughout the project lifecycle
• Identify technical risks or engineering issues and develop practical solutions
• Support engineers and provide technical guidance and coaching where required
• Ensure engineering activities comply with applicable standards, safety requirements, project specifications, and quality procedures

Your Profile

• MBO or HBO level qualification in Electrical Engineering, Energy Technology, or a related technical discipline
• Several years of relevant electrical engineering experience, ideally within medium- and/or high-voltage environments
• Strong experience with secondary installations, protection and control systems, or substation engineering
• Experience designing and developing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control circuits
• Knowledge of medium- and high-voltage electrical installations
• Understanding of protection systems, relay protection, control systems, and/or substation automation
• Experience performing electrical calculations, including cable calculations
• Experience with engineering software such as EPLAN, ELCAD, Intelec, or similar electrical design tools is an advantage
• Experience working on new-build, expansion, and/or renovation projects
• Comfortable carrying out site surveys and discussing technical solutions directly with clients and colleagues
• Able to work independently while also contributing effectively within multidisciplinary project teams
• Experience supporting or coaching other engineers is advantageous
• Fluent in Dutch is mandatory
• Good command of English, both written and spoken
