Location: Netherlands

Contract Length: 12 Months (Initial Contract)

Employment Type: Contract / Freelance

About the Opportunity

Our client is a leading international engineering and geo-data consultancy operating across major infrastructure, marine, and environmental projects throughout the Netherlands and Europe. Due to continued project demand, they are seeking an experienced Hydrologist to support a range of dewatering, groundwater management, and trenching operations .

This role will focus on delivering hydrological expertise for complex civil and marine projects, ensuring effective groundwater control solutions and supporting project execution from planning through to field operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct hydrological and hydrogeological assessments for dewatering and trenching projects.
  • Develop groundwater models and analyse site-specific hydrogeological conditions.
  • Design, implement, and monitor dewatering systems for infrastructure and construction projects.
  • Provide technical support for trench excavation activities and groundwater management strategies.
  • Interpret field data and produce technical reports and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and site teams to optimise dewatering performance.
  • Monitor groundwater levels, pumping tests, and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Support risk assessments relating to groundwater conditions and excavation activities.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory stakeholders where required.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, Geoscience, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience delivering dewatering and groundwater management projects.
  • Strong understanding of hydrogeological investigations and groundwater modelling.
  • Experience supporting trenching, excavation, or civil engineering projects.
  • Ability to interpret technical data and provide practical engineering solutions.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary project environments.
  • Strong report writing and communication skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Hands-on experience operating or supporting Mudflow systems/equipment .
  • Experience within marine, offshore, geotechnical, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of Dutch environmental regulations and permitting processes.
  • Experience with groundwater modelling software and data analysis tools.

Language Requirements

  • Fluent Dutch (spoken and written) is essential.
  • English language skills are highly desirable due to the international project environment.

Contract Details

  • Initial 12-month contract with potential extension.
  • Competitive day rate/package available.

  • Hybrid office/site-based working depending on project requirements.
