Job description

The Librarian will be responsible for managing and developing the school library as a welcoming, well-organized, and engaging learning environment. The successful candidate will support students and teachers in accessing high-quality resources and promote a strong culture of reading, research, and lifelong learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operation and organization of the school library.
  • Develop and maintain an engaging and age-appropriate collection of books and learning resources.
  • Support students in developing reading, research, information-literacy, and independent-learning skills.
  • Collaborate with teachers to support curriculum-related research and learning activities.
  • Organize reading initiatives, library activities, book displays, and literacy events.
  • Maintain accurate records of library resources, loans, returns, and acquisitions.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and welcoming library environment.
  • Support students in selecting appropriate books and resources based on their interests and learning needs.
  • Ensure library resources remain current, relevant, and aligned with the school's educational objectives.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school and support its values and safeguarding expectations.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Science, Education, English, or a related field .
  • Previous experience working as a school librarian or in an educational library environment is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of library management and information-resource systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Passion for reading, literacy, and supporting children's learning.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and school leadership.
  • Good English communication skills.
  • Experience in an international school environment.
