Job description

We are currently looking for a Management Trainee to join our airline catering operations. This entry-level program is designed for ambitious graduates and early-career professionals who are eager to develop into future leaders. Through a combination of structured training, hands-on operational experience, and cross-functional rotations, you will gain valuable insight into all aspects of our business. From food production and quality assurance to logistics, safety, auditing, and people management, you will build the knowledge and practical skills needed to support daily operations while preparing for a future management role within Gate Gourmet.

HACCP / Food Safety Management (ISO 22000)

As part of the Quality Assurance team, you will play an active role in maintaining and continuously improving our Food Safety Management System (FSMS) in line with Gate Gourmet standards, ISO 22000 requirements, and applicable Dutch and European food safety legislation.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the monitoring and implementation of the HACCP and FSMS programs to ensure compliance with internal and external food safety standards.
  • Maintaining and continuously improving the HACCP/ISO 22000 system by updating procedures, work instructions, checklists, and other quality documentation.
  • Conducting monthly internal self-audits, preparing reports, and coordinating corrective and preventive actions where necessary.
  • Reviewing, organizing, and maintaining food safety records to ensure they are audit-ready and easily accessible during internal and external inspections.
  • Identifying non-conformities and supporting the Quality Assurance team in coaching and guiding employees and managers to improve compliance and operational performance.
  • Participating in supplier audits when required, helping to ensure suppliers meet Gate Gourmet's food safety and quality expectations.
  • As part of the Quality Assurance team, you will help maintain and improve our quality and food safety standards across the operation. You will support the implementation of internal quality systems, verify production against specifications, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance both product quality and operational efficiency.
  • Your role also includes assisting with hygiene and food safety training, coaching operational teams on quality standards, investigating customer complaints, and helping implement corrective actions. In addition, you will support cleaning and pest control programs, collaborate with operational managers on standard operating procedures, and participate in daily operational and quality meetings. Regular communication with internal stakeholders, customers, suppliers, and regulatory authorities, as well as preparing weekly and monthly quality reports, are key aspects of this position.

Profile:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in food safety, Quality Management, Food Technology, or a related field.
  • Fresh graduate or up to 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Internship or work experience within hospitality, food service, aviation, or manufacturing is considered an advantage.
  • Strong interest in food safety, quality assurance, and operational excellence.
  • Eager to learn, proactive, and motivated to develop into a future quality professional.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Good command of the local language and English, both written and spoken.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
  • 8% holiday allowance and 8,33% end year bonus
  • 25 vacation days plus 13 additional adv days.
  • Travel allowance (€0.21 per km).
  • Attractive pension scheme.
  • Affordable fresh meals and fruit at our on-site restaurant.
  • Career development opportunities within Gate Group, both locally and internationally.
  • A multicultural and dynamic working environment.
  • Free on-site parking.

Requirements:

  • Eligible to obtain a Certificate of Conduct (VOG) and Certificate of No Objection (VGB).
  • Willing to undergo a background screening and have continuously resided in the Netherlands for the past eight years.
