Senior Test Automation Engineer - Banking
Location: Utrecht, Netherlands
Hours: 40 hours per week
Contract: Temporary contract until August 2027
Language: English mandatory
Working arrangement: Payroll/Detachment - ZZP not possible
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Test Automation Engineer / QA Software Engineer to join a DevOps team within a major Dutch financial institution.
The team is developing a new, future-proof global sanctions transaction filtering platform, replacing existing legacy systems and supporting the organisation's wider Financial Economic Crime (FEC) capabilities.
As a Test Automation Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the stability, integrity and quality of the platform. Testing is fully integrated within the DevOps delivery process, and you will work closely with developers, engineers and other stakeholders to deliver functionality securely and efficiently into production.
Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain automated test solutions and frameworks.
- Perform both automated and manual testing where required.
- Drive quality assurance and continuous improvement within the DevOps team.
- Develop and maintain automated regression and integration tests.
- Implement Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) testing.
- Perform API and performance testing.
- Contribute to secure and automated production releases.
- Identify quality risks and challenge technical solutions where appropriate.
- Work closely with developers and DevOps engineers throughout the development lifecycle.
- Support operational and production activities.
- Clearly document testing processes, results and technical insights.
- Provide input into project strategy and prioritisation.
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Essential Experience
- Strong professional experience in Test Automation / QA Engineering.
- Deep knowledge of test automation principles, frameworks and tooling.
- Hands-on experience setting up and implementing automated testing.
- Strong experience with Java and Selenium.
- Experience with Cucumber / Behaviour Driven Development (BDD).
- API testing experience using Postman.
- Experience with performance testing and performance testing tools.
- Experience working with Linux and Git.
- Knowledge of XML, XSLT and JSON.
- Basic experience with Python.
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum and DevOps environments.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
Advantageous Experience
Experience with any of the following would be beneficial:
- Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipeline development.
- Azure DevOps reporting integrations.
- Docker and/or Podman.
- Oracle SQL / SQL.
- Ansible and YAML.
- Dynatrace.
- JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
- Visual Studio Code.
- RiskShield Server and RAC.
- Complex banking or financial-services environments.
- Payment-chain knowledge.
- Sanctions regulations / Financial Economic Crime (FEC).
- Production support and operational activities.
