Job description

agap2 is a European engineering and operational consulting group founded in 2005 and specialized in industry. We work in the Pharma, Biotechnology, Medical Devices, Energy, Infrastructure, Transportation, Chemicals, and Information Technology sectors. As a consultant, you will support our clients on site in the realization of their projects by bringing your expertise and skills.

Mission

For this assignment, we are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer with strong expertise in mixed-signal electronics and optical sensor readout. You will contribute to the optimization of a high-performance UV spectrometer, with a particular focus on the electronics around the CCD detector. The challenge is to reliably capture extremely weak optical signals, down to only a few photons, while preserving sensitivity, signal integrity, and measurement accuracy.

What you will do

  • Own the mixed-signal electronics workstream for the UV spectrometer, from analysis through validation.
  • Strengthen the CCD readout chain so it performs reliably in ultra-low-light conditions.
  • Refine the analog front-end to reduce noise and improve weak-signal acquisition.
  • Raise system performance by improving sensitivity, dynamic range, signal integrity, and readout accuracy.
  • Connect the analog acquisition chain with the digital processing path and verify the interface performance.
  • Identify the main electronic noise contributors and drive targeted mitigation actions.
  • Collaborate with optical and system engineers to improve the instrument as a whole.

What you bring

You are motivated by turning demanding scientific measurement requirements into robust electronics that perform at the edge of sensitivity.

Core requirements

  • Proven experience in mixed-signal electronic design, covering both analog and digital domains.
  • Hands-on experience with CCD or CMOS image sensor readout.
  • Deep understanding of low-noise analog circuit design and precision measurement electronics.
  • Experience with signal conditioning, amplification, filtering, and high-resolution ADCs.
  • Strong command of SNR, noise analysis, and high-sensitivity sensor interfaces.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and optimize complex electronic systems.
  • Fluency in English and in German
