Job description
We are offering a full-time internship within the Production Engineering Department. The internship duration is 5 to 6 months and will be conducted under the supervision of the Manager, Test Engineering.
The Grass Valley Test Engineering team supports new product introduction (NPI) by developing and implementing production test solutions, as well as providing ongoing support for existing products in manufacturing.
Key deliverables of the team include:
• Defining test strategies and processes
• Designing and validating test fixtures
• Developing embedded test firmware and diagnostic software
• Creating test tools and automated test sequences
• Supporting product transfer from engineering to manufacturing
• Ensuring long-term sustainability of test solutions
The intern will collaborate with test engineering peers and cross-functional teams to develop Python-based test tools and associated technical documentation.
Responsibilities – Key Accountabilities:
• Collaborate with Test Engineering, cross-functional teams, and program management to understand product requirements and testing objectives.
• Contributes to the development, validation, and deployment of automated production test solutions (PCBA, product, and system-level).
• Develop technical procedures, work instructions, and support documentation.
• Plan, document, and manage assigned project tasks and schedules.
• Execute tasks in alignment with project milestones and timelines.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Strong proficiency in Python programming
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
• Fluency in English (spoken and written); fluency in Dutch is preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively in a geographically distributed team.
Technical Knowledge (Preferred)
• Broadcast audio/video standards:
o Analog composite/component
o SD-SDI, HD-SDI, 3G, 4K
o Video reference, timecode, IP video
• Advanced PC knowledge:
o Hardware drivers
o Custom software
o Low-level OS configuration
• Networking fundamentals:
o TCP/IP, Telnet, FTP, SNMP
o Basic troubleshooting skills
• Instrument interfaces:
o RS232, RS422
• Software & tools:
o Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook)
o SharePoint, Confluence, Jira
o Version control systems (Git, SVN, ClearCase)
• Additional assets:
o Embedded or real-time software development
o National Instruments LabVIEW / TestStand
o Windows-based software development
Working Conditions:
• Full-time internship (40 hours/week)
• Duration: 5–6 months.
